The Great Trump Regime Humanitarian Aid to Venezuela Hoax

by Stephen Lendman

There’s nothing humanitarian about all-out war by other means, by illegal sanctions causing enormous harm to Venezuela’s economy and people, by threatening hot war, by wanting fascist tyranny replacing democratic governance.

Nor is sending toxic “decayed food and expired and unusable medications” unsafe to use - fake humanitarian aid, not the real thing.

Venezuelan envoy to Russia Carlos Rafael Faria Tortosa exposed the Trump regime’s hoax, along with wanting Venezuelans harmed by its toxic cargo to falsely blame Maduro for the harm caused them.

Without establishment media support, DLT’s coup plot would have deflated like a punctured balloon, perhaps never getting off the ground, failing to get traction.

If major media journalism was the way it’s supposed to be, featuring hard truths, supporting the rule of law, opposing illegal interventions in the internal affairs of other countries, US imperial wars, color revolutions, and old-fashioned coups, the plots against sovereign states could be challenged and prevented by turning public opinion strongly against them.

Instead it’s the other way around. Supportive media propaganda is the mother’s milk of imperial horrors - its supportive engine, unable to thrive without it.

Venezuelan social democracy is the hemisphere’s best, its electoral system the world’s best. Media propaganda pretends otherwise - in lockstep with Trump’s attempt to topple its sovereign independent government, US wars of aggression, and fantasy money-controlled democracy for the privileged few alone.

US major media are a collective lying machine, a national disgrace, notably in the Internet age, an added platform for global reach to disseminate managed news misinformation, disinformation, Big Lies and fake news - their specialty on issues mattering most, especially geopolitical ones.

The NYT is worst of all, pretending to be the “newspaper of record,” its reporting on Venezuela one of countless examples of featuring propaganda over real news, information and analysis.

Its “Battle at the Venezuela Border” report  promoted the myth that the Trump regime tried helping Venezuelans with humanitarian aid last weekend - people they don’t give a damn about, or ordinary people everywhere, including at home.

The Times and other media scoundrels ignore the deplorable state of America, thirdworldized by Republicans and undemocratic Dems, responsible for the greatest wealth transfer scheme in world history - from ordinary people to corporate predators and the nation’s privileged class, most recently by the December 2017 great GOP tax cut heist and what followed.

Establishment media report nothing about US Depression-level unemployment at over 20% if accurately calculated, nor that most jobs are rotten temp or part-time low pay/poor or no benefit service ones with no futures.

Conditions are getting worse, not better, millions of working-age Americans one or two lost paychecks from homelessness, hunger, and despair.

Poverty is America’s new growth industry. So is underemployment, the US increasingly resembling Guatemala, including harsh crackdowns on nonbelievers.

Humanitarian intervention for real begins at home, aiding half or more of the nation’s people either impoverished or bordering it, unable to afford essentials to life like proper healthcare when seriously ill or injured.

Regime change begins at home. What’s needed isn’t replacing Trump with another imperial front man, another servant of monied interests at the expense of the general welfare.

What’s needed is transforming the US from a fantasy democracy into the real thing for the first time in its history, making the nation’s governance work for all its people instead of for monied interests alone.

The self-styled newspaper of record is silent on what’s most important to report. Its article on the battle along Venezuela’s border with Colombia and Brazil, as well as other reports on the Bolivarian Republic read like material scripted by Trump regime hardliners - supporting their coup attempt instead of denouncing it.

As expected, the Times failed to expose and denounce the colossal Trump regime “humanitarian aid” hoax - a PR stunt unrelated to helping anyone, furthering its imperial agenda alone.

The Times highlighted warmongering extremist/pseudo senator Marco Rubio’s bravado and threats on the Colombian side of the country’s border with Venezuela - meddling in its affairs, urging military defections against Maduro.

Commenting on billionaire coup supporter Richard Branson’s Friday concert in Cucuta, Colombia, the Times failed to explain it flopped, drawing less than 10% of a hoped for turnout - a political event unrelated to helping Venezuelans.

Along with failing to condemn the Trump regime’s coup plot, the Times and other media scoundrels blamed government security forces for US-orchestrated violence, causing deaths and injuries last weekend, including from live fire by thugs likely armed with CIA or Elliot Abrams-supplied assault weapons.

The Times and other media scoundrels lied about “scores” of Venezuelan National Guard members defecting. Jorge Martin from the activist Hand Off Venezuela group told Sputnik News the following:

“(I)t is in the interest of Guaido (and the Trump regime) to inflate the numbers. Yesterday, on Sunday they said 60 soldiers had defected.”

“Now they’re saying 160. But in reality, if you look for instance at the meeting (Guaido) had with the soldiers, there’s a video of it. There were maybe about 20 people in the room, 25 maximum. On Saturday, there were reports of soldiers defecting, and this could be confirmed for 10 or 12 people.”

Most important, high-ranking soldiers haven’t defected. At most, a couple betrayed their country. Coup plotters failed to achieve their most important objective, turning Venezuela’s military against Maduro.

They expected to oust Maduro easily in a few days at most. They’re still waiting over five weeks later.
