Pompeo’s Road Show All About Plotting Next US Imperial Moves
by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org – Home – Stephen Lendman)
Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, and other future US presidents once served as secretary of state.
So did noted senators Daniel Webster and William Jennings Bryan. Henry Kissinger was Washington’s most notorious top diplomat, a war criminal too many times over to keep accurate count of.
Maybe Pompeo will match his ruthlessness before leaving office. His extremist worldview should terrify everyone.
Following his hawkish address to NATO foreign ministers in Brussels, he met with despotic king Salman in Riyadh on Sunday, promoting more illegal sanctions on Iran.
He lied accusing Tehran of “destabiliz(ing) the region.” He lied calling the Islamic Republic a sponsor of “proxy militias and terrorist groups” – a US/Israeli/Saudi specialty, not how Iran operates.
He lied accusing the country of being “an arms dealer to the Houthi(s) in Yemen.” He lied calling Syria a “murderous Assad regime.”
The regime he represents in Washington is the greatest threat to world peace, waging endless wars on humanity, blaming victimized nations for its high crimes – allied with ruthless regimes in Britain, France, Germany, other NATO countries, Israel, Saudi Arabia and other rogue states.
Pompeo: “We are determined to make sure (Iran) never possesses a nuclear weapon,” it doesn’t have, doesn’t want, deplores and wants eliminated as a weapon of war.
“The Iran deal in its current form” must be revised, Pompeo added. “We will continue to work with our European allies to fix that deal. But if a deal cannot be reached, (Trump said) he will leave that deal.”
Later on Sunday, Pompeo arrived in Israel. He and Netanyahu will plot their next moves against Syria and Iran – regime change on their minds, naked aggression their favored strategy.
Trump administration officials are persona non grata in Palestine, no meetings scheduled for Pompeo in Ramallah. Senior PA official Nabil Shaath affirmed it, saying a meeting request if made would have been rejected.
On Fox News Sunday, John Bolton said Trump so far “made no decision on the nuclear deal, whether to stay in or get out.”
He rejects it in its current form, days ahead of what next steps he intends taking.
Pompeo heads to Jordan after finishing talks with Netanyahu and other Israeli officials – similar topics to be discussed with king Abdullah.
The neocon/CIA house organ Washington Post called Pompeo “the un-Tillerson” – highlighting his hawkish extremism, a demonic un-diplomat more accurately describes him.
