Trump Regime’s Palestinian Agenda: Slow-Motion Genocide

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.orgHome – Stephen Lendman)

The NYT’s disgraceful Trump bashing anonymous op-ed had plenty to say about nonexistent US “democratic institutions,” Trump (justifiably) calling the press the “enemy of the people,” his alleged “erratic behavior,” his “preference” for Putin and Kim Jong-un called “autocrats and dictators,” his opposition to sanctions on Russia, calling war criminal McCain a model to emulate, and lots more DLT criticism.

There were no harsh words abut endless US wars of aggression, corporate favoritism, tax cuts for the rich, eroding social justice, one-sided support for Israel, and pursuing slow-motion genocide against defenseless Palestinians.

After ending US UNWRA funding and other humanitarian aid aid to Palestinians, another shoe dropped Saturday.

The State Department announced the Trump regime will cut over $20 million in aid to East Jerusalem Palestinian hospitals – political blackmail, pressuring the PA to surrender to US and Israeli diktats, demanding they abandon all hope for self-determination, East Jerusalem as a future capital, and all other fundamental rights.

Funds will be used for so-called other priorities. At least five East Jerusalem hospitals are affected by loss of funds, one or more threatened with closure if other sources don’t make up for what’s lost.

According to an unnamed Palestinian official, Trump regime funding cuts “will not change our position toward our cause one bit. On the contrary, it consolidates our positions toward every issue, including Jerusalem.”

PLO executive committee member Hanan Ashwari blasted the Trump regime, saying its “political blackmail goes against the norms of human decency and morality.”

It’s latest cut “threaten(s) to cause serious instability and grave harm to thousands of Palestinian patients and their families from across the West Bank and Gaza Strip and hurting the livelihood of thousands of workers in the Palestinian healthcare sector in the occupied city.”

Ashwari called on the international community to hold Israel accountable “before the requirements for a just peace and stability are destroyed indefinitely.”

On Thursday, Trump said he stopped funding Palestinians until they go along with unacceptable US and Israeli demands. If they won’t surrender their fundamental rights, “we’re not paying,” he roared.

His regime stopped virtually all aid to Palestinians except funding for PA security forces to serve repressively as Israel’s enforcer.

The NYT, its anonymous op-ed Trump critic, other media scoundrels, Republicans and undemocratic Dems failed to denounce his one-sided support for Israel and slow-motion genocide affecting millions of Palestinians – including the sick, infirm, elderly, young children, and countless others dependent on humanitarian aid because of occupation harshness Washington supports.
