US Wants Endless War in Syria, Not Resolution
by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org – Home – Stephen Lendman)
On Monday, Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Moallem said illegal US occupation on military bases established in northern and southwestern areas shows its intention to continue endless war, opposing resolution.
It’s training ISIS and other jihadists in areas it controls – pretending to be combating the scourge it actively supports.
RT’s Arabic language service quoted sources, saying US forces let ISIS terrorists recapture al-Sousah and al-Baqouz in southeastern Deir Ezzor province.
The state-run Arabic language al-Watan news agency cited sources, explaining that Pentagon forces directly aided the ISIS offensive retake territory its jihadists previously lost.
At the same time, US-led terror-bombing continues massacring Syrian civilians, along with destroying vital infrastructure.
Moallem said government forces will continue combating (US-supported) terrorists until the scourge is eliminated.
“We will not allow anyone to interfere in our national affairs,” he stressed, adding:
“For more than seven years, we have been in a real war against terrorism, and today we can see the signs of victory despite all Western and American attempts to prolong the crisis for many years.”
US-led “coalition” partners massacred countless thousands of Syrian civilians. Washington is combatting everyone in Syria except ISIS and other terrorists it supports, said Moallem – citing the rape and destruction of Raqqa as clearest proof of its evil aims.
Syria, Russia, Iran and Hezbollah alone are committed to resolving conflict, along with preserving the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Washington and its imperial partners have polar opposite objectives.
Conflict in terrorist-infested Idlib province remains unresolved. It’ll be dealt with militarily if political efforts fail. The current status quo is temporary.
Turkey failed to implement Idlib demilitarized terms agreed to with Russia. Al-Nusra and likeminded terrorists refused to surrender their Western-supplied heavy weapons and leave Idlib’s buffer zone.
“This is a signal that Ankara does not want to fulfill its obligations in the framework of Russian-Turkish agreements on Idlib,” said Moallem.
Erdogan and Western leaders support terrorists infesting Idlib. Syria is coordinating its military actions with Russia.
Combating terrorists will continue until sovereignty is restored to all Syrian territory, Moallem stressed.
A Final Comment
On October 30, the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported that al-Nusra-linked terrorists “transported two canisters with chlorine and sarin from Ltamenah to Qalaat al-Madiq, northwest of Hama.”
“These canisters were handed over to the Daesh-affiliated terror groups in the Idlib de-escalation zone.”
For many weeks, Russian intelligence indicated a false flag CW attack could occur any time in Idlib.
When launched, it’ll be wrongfully blamed on Assad like earlier, used as a phony pretext for US-led terror-bombing of Syrian sites.
