Usurper in Waiting Guaido Returns to Venezuela Without Incident

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org - Home - Stephen Lendman)

He’s the Trump regime’s designated puppet, a convenient stooge, trained by the US for his role, a Manchurian candidate for its coup plot in Venezuela - initiated at a chosen time to serve Washington’s imperial interests in the country.

Guaido is guilty of sedition, treason, or both, along with violating a Supreme Court ordered travel ban. He should have been arrested and detained for prosecution straightaway after unlawfully self-designating himself interim president on January 23.

After leaving Venezuela for Colombia on February 22, reportedly helicoptered cross-border covertly by its military, he returned to Caracas on Monday.

His US-orchestrated welcoming party at the Caracas airport included envoys from France, Germany, Chile, the Netherlands, Portugal, and Romania.

From there, he headed to Alfredo Sadel Plaza in the city’s upscale Las Mercedes district - for a Trump regime-orchestrated rally, promising what he called an “important announcement” on Tuesday.

Virtually all his movements, meetings, and remarks are scripted in Washington - a puppet manipulated by Trump regime puppeteers pulling his strings.

So far, the US coup plot hasn’t gone as planned - expected fast and easy regime change failing. Six weeks after initiated, Maduro remains in power, around three-fourths of world community states, including the UN, opposing the coup plot.

Key nations Russia, China, India, South Africa, Mexico, and others oppose it, notably against military intervention. The UN Charter and other international law prohibit countries from interfering in the internal affairs of others - the US a serial violator, operating by its own rules, breaching its own Constitution.

Monday rallies for Guaido in Caracas and elsewhere in Venezuela drew far less numbers than hoped for, perhaps a sign of waning public support. It’s mostly from well-off Venezuelans, Maduro retaining majority support in the barrios, his base.

A Monday State Department press statement for Pompeo said the following:

“The United States applauds the people of Venezuela for their actions to create a peaceful democratic transition, and congratulates interim president Guaido (sic) on his successful diplomatic efforts (sic) in the region and safe return to Venezuela.”

Fact: The Trump regime’s coup plot is all about abolishing Bolivarian social democracy, replacing it with US-controlled fascist tyranny, gaining control over the country’s oil, gas, gold, and other valued resources for looting - part of DLT’s MAGA plot, “making America great again” for its monied interests exclusively.

Pompeo: “The United States and freedom-loving nations around the world stand with…Guaido, the National Assembly, and all democratic forces as they work to establish free and fair elections that will return democracy to Venezuela.”

Fact: Republicans and undemocratic Dems only recognize foreign elections when candidates they support win - unequivocally opposing democracy the way it should be everywhere, especially at home.

Pompeo: “We also welcome news of Venezuelan military and security service personnel doing the right thing and recognizing…Guaido.”

Fact: Around 100 low-level Venezuelan National Guard soldiers defected cross-border to Colombia - reportedly promised $20,000 by Trump regime hardliners, perhaps never to be delivered.

Pompeo: “The international community must unite and push for the end of Maduro’s brutal regime (sic) and the peaceful restoration of democracy (sic) in Venezuela.”

Fact: Since Hugo Chavez’s December 1998 election, Bolivarian social democracy has represented the threat of a good example US regimes sought, and so far failed, to eliminate.

Last week, Maduro said Guaido can’t “just come and go. He will have to face justice, and justice prohibited him from leaving the country.”

Vice President Delcy Rodriguez added: “Such actions are prosecuted by criminal law. Also, there is a regulatory framework that our authorities are guided by. And they are already taking the necessary measures and will continue to protect our state of law and order.”

Having failed to topple Maduro by its best-laid plans, Trump regime hardliners likely intend upping the stakes - I believe with armed and dangerous anti-government proxies, mercenaries for Contra-like violence, mass bloodshed and greater chaos likely coming.

Sanctions don’t topple governments. Iran withstood them for 40 years, Venezuela since the Obama regime imposed them, Trump escalating them sharply.

Preserving and protecting Venezuela’s sovereign independence is vital. Key going forward is defeating likely escalated Trump regime war by other means.

Greater involvement by Russia, China, and other Maduro allies could be the deciding factor, why I believe it’s essential - meaningful action, not worthless supportive rhetoric accomplishing nothing.
