Trump’s Deplorable Agenda

In his first eight months in office, Trump escalated US wars of aggression in multiple theaters, risks nuclear war on the Korean peninsula, possible direct confrontation with Russia and China - while serving Wall Street, war-profiteers, other corporate favorites and wealthy Americans exclusively at the expense of most others.
In short order, he disgraced the office he holds, achieved nothing significant legislatively, ignores the welfare of ordinary people he pledged to serve equitably, and declared war on unwanted immigrants.
He supports ISIS and other terrorists he vowed to combat, stacked his administration with hawkish generals, billionaires, and Wall Street crooks, ended hope for improved relations with Cuba, and is consistently dishonest in public remarks, saying one thing, doing another.
He one-sidedly supports Israel, ignoring its apartheid ruthlessness, is uncaring about the suffering of Palestinians and other beleaguered people.
He backs Ukraine’s US-installed, Nazi-infested, putschist regime, wages political and economic war on Venezuela, while cozying up to a rogue’s gallery of foreign despots, opposing democratic governments and sovereign independent nations.
The state of America on his watch is deplorable. Will North Korea be his next target for naked aggression? Threatening the country with total destruction showed reckless indifference to preserving regional peace and stability.
Addressing the hawkish Institute for the Study of War on Monday, Trump’s National Security Advisor HR McMaster said “(w)e have thought through four or five ways to resolve (the North Korean issue), and some are uglier than others,” adding “thinking is evolving all the time.”
He unacceptably demanded Pyongyang end its nuclear weapons and ballistic missile programs, along with allowing intrusive inspections of its facilities. Otherwise, dialogue is ruled out.
“What we hope to do is avoid war, but we cannot discount that possibility,” he roared, calling it “unacceptable” for the DPRK to be able to mount a nuclear warhead atop a ballistic missile.
His remarks came hours after North Korean Foreign Minister Ri Yong Ho called Trump’s hostile rhetoric toward his government a declaration of war.
“The whole world should clearly remember it was the US who first declared war on our country,” he said.
“Since the United States declared war on our country, we will have every right to make countermeasures, including the right to shoot down United States strategic bombers even when they are not inside the airspace border of our country.”
Hostile rhetoric often precedes something more serious. US hostility encourages Pyongyang to continue developing its nuclear and ballistic missile capabilities.
War on the Korean peninsula would be madness. It’s ominously possible given Washington’s rage for endless conflicts.
