Trump Responds to Anonymous NYT Op-Ed Writer
by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org – Home – Stephen Lendman)
A personal note. I’m a fierce Trump critic. I’ve written numerous articles denouncing his deplorable domestic and geopolitical agenda, inflicting enormous harm on countless millions at home and abroad.
Republican and undemocratic Dem presidents are front figures for dark forces running things.
The problem is America’s deplorable state, bipartisan criminals in charge, taking turns controlling the White House and Congress, a one-party state with two extremist right wings – supporting privileged interests exclusively at the expense of most others.
I strongly oppose what’s going on, including a diabolical slow-motion coup d’etat to oust Trump from office for the wrong reasons, not the right ones.
His problem is voters elected the wrong president, compounded by wanting improved relations with Russia and North Korea.
He was supposed to lose, not win. Hillary claimed it was her turn. Media scoundrels one-sidedly endorsed a woman I called the most ruthlessly dangerous presidential aspirant in US history.
On September 5, the NYT disgracefully published an anonymous op-ed titled “I Am Part of the Resistance Inside the Trump Administration.”
I called journalistic anonymity suspect. Anyone unwilling to be identified lacks credibility. The op-ed was a hatchet job in cahoots with dark forces, including Hillary loyalists, wanting Trump ousted from office.
He responded tweeting: “The Failing New York Times.”
“TREASON?”
“Does the so-called ‘Senior Administration Official’ really exist, or is it just the Failing New York Times with another phony source? If the GUTLESS anonymous person does indeed exist, the Times must, for National Security purposes, turn him/her over to government at once!”
“I’m draining the Swamp, and the Swamp is trying to fight back. Don’t worry, we will win!”
He’s wrong suggesting “treason.” The Times is a mouthpiece for policies inflicting enormous harm on countless millions worldwide.
It’s notoriously pro-war, pro-wealth and power interests, anti-populist, Russophobic, and unapologetically opposed to all sovereign independent states on Washington’s target list for regime change.
From June 2016 when Trump announced his candidacy for president to now, undemocratic Dems, some Republicans, the Times, and most other media scoundrels have been militantly hostile to him for the wrong reasons, largely ignoring the right ones.
I’ve said many times that the self-styled newspaper of record is a national disgrace – featuring disinformation, Big Lies and fake news on major issues, suppressing what’s vital to report.
It long ago lost credibility, self-inflicting another body blow for disgracefully publishing an anonymous anti-Trump hit piece – polar opposite what journalism is supposed to be, featuring cold, hard facts no matter how disturbing, opinions based on them, and no one expressing them hiding behind anonymity.
Trump was right calling the anonymous writer “gutless,” right asking the Times to name the individual. Paul Craig Roberts believes the self-styled newspaper of record wrote the piece, not a Trump official, aiming to sow discord, part of the scheme to delegitimize and undermine DJT.
He’s wrong citing national security reasons, wrong claiming he’s draining the swamp, a cesspool of bipartisan criminality too deep and infested to drain.
He’s likely wrong claiming he’ll win, deep state long knives against him taking their toll.
White House press secretary Sarah Sanders supported her boss, saying:
“We are disappointed, but not surprised, that the (NYT) chose to publish this pathetic, reckless, and selfish op-ed.”
“This is a new low for the so-called ‘paper of record,’ and it should issue an apology.”
“The individual behind this piece has chosen to deceive, rather than support, the duly elected President of the United States.”
“He is not putting country first, but putting himself and his ego ahead of the will of the American people. This coward should do the right thing and resign.”
She’s right calling the op-ed “pathetic, reckless, and selfish,” right calling it a “new low” for the deplorable Times, right calling for an “apology” – surely not forthcoming.
She left unexplained what’s behind the shameless op-ed – orchestrated by anti-Trump dark forces, wanting him ousted from office, replaced Mike Pence, a deplorable figure more extremist and dangerous than DLT.
He’s an evangelical Christian fascist, a neocon Tea Party hardliner, an imperial war cheerleader, an Islamophobe, Russophobe and homophobe, hostile to immigrant rights, a longtime Koch brothers ally, serving their interests and other corporate predators.
He’s anti-progressive, anti-social justice, anti-governance serving everyone equitably, anti-abortion rights, anti-LGBT and women’s rights, anti-gay marriage, anti-worker rights, an evangelical supporter of Israel’s worst crimes, a hard as they get hardliner.
He’s a bigoted white supremacist, a far-right religious fundamentalist, supporting virtually everything free societies abhor – a president in waiting if Trump ends up ousted from office.
Pence calls himself “a Christian, a conservative, and a Republican in that order.” Others call him a hypocrite and a menace too extremist and ruthless to ever permit ascending to the nation’s highest office.
Since 9/11, America has been on a slippery slope toward full-blown tyranny.
Ousting Trump for the wrong reasons will be another major step toward destroying remaining freedoms in the country – fascist despotism replacing them if dark forces get their way, aided and abetted by the Times.
