Russian Foreign Ministry on Syria, Ukraine, and Nord Stream II

Whether Trump follows through on pulling US forces out of Syria or U-turns on his announcement won’t change Washington’s imperial rage to transform all countries worldwide into US vassal states, including Syria, why US naked aggression was launched in the first place.

Its wars continue endlessly, new ones planned, including possible military confrontation with Russia, China, and/or Iran.

US terror-bombing of countries in the Middle East and elsewhere may intensify, not end. The notion of Washington turning a page for peace in any of its war theaters or elsewhere is wrongheaded wishful thinking.

Once a hegemon, always one, especially the US with longstanding aims of dominating all other countries, no exceptions.

Commenting on the situation in Syria, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova (MZ below) said 2018 saw progress on the ground toward liberating the country from the scourge of US-supported terrorists, along with ending its illegal occupation of northern and southern areas.

Idlib province remains a festering exception to most other parts of the country, infested with tens of thousands of US-supported jihadists - in greater numbers and more heavily armed than when Vladimir Putin foolishly let Turkey’s Erdogan con him last September into delaying the province’s liberation.

Today the task is harder than then. The longer the delay, the tougher the challenge to liberate Idlib than last summer when a campaign should have been launched.

Failure to do the right thing left Idlib residents hostage to US-supported jihadists. Raqqa remains a festering sore - raped and destroyed by US-led terror-bombing, countless thousands of its residents massacred in cold blood, MZ saying:

“There is no one left (in the city turned to rubble) to celebrate Christmas at the desecrate church ruins there, as almost all Christians (and most everyone else) left this ghost city,” adding:

“New Year’s Eve is a time of hope. For Syrians these hopes are mostly associated with further progress in settling and overcoming the consequences of the protracted war; the re-establishment of the country’s full sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity; the final elimination of the terrorist presence; a political, social and economic rebuilding; and the return of the refugees and internally displaced persons.”

Achieving the above objectives won’t happen any time soon because Republicans and undemocratic Dems want endless war, chaos, and human misery. They categorically reject conflict resolution - in Syria and all other US war theaters.

They prioritize their own aims above the sovereign rights of other people. That’s what the scourge of imperialism is all about.

MZ discussed Ukraine’s draft General Assembly resolution on Russia’s alleged militarization of Crimea - cooked up by Trump regime hardliners, likely in cahoots with their UK counterparts.

The non-binding measure should have been overwhelmingly rejected. Instead it was adopted by around one-third of GA members because of Trump regime heavy-handedness - most nations abstaining or not showing up to vote.

MZ called the measure “a politicized document, built on unacceptable accusations against Russia, and intended to ‘write off’ all the problems Ukraine is currently facing in terms of domestic politics and the economy as deriving from some kind of mythical ‘Russian aggression,’ as well as boost Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko’s record-low approval ratings.”

It blamed Russia for the November 25 US-orchestrated/Kiev Kerch Strait provocation in Russian waters - flagrantly violation the UN Law of the Sea and UN Charter.

Trump regime hardliners are going all-out to try undermining Russia’s Nord Stream II gas pipeline project to various EU countries - wanting them to buy more expensive US liquified natural gas.

Germany, Europe’s economic powerhouse, is a strong pipeline proponent. Russia is the world’s largest natural gas producer. Germany and other EU countries greatly value it.

Dominant Russophobic hardliners in Washington aren’t Russian “partners” or “colleagues.” They’re arch enemies, wanting the country co-opted as a US vassal state, its vast oil, gas, and other resources looted.

Nord Stream II when completed will supplement “existing routes for delivering natural gas to Europe,” not replace them, MZ explained.

Progress on its construction continues.
