Phony US National Security Threats

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org - Home - Stephen Lendman)

US policymakers on both sides of the aisle invent national security threats to unjustifiably justify wasting countless trillions of dollars on global militarism and belligerence.

US bases worldwide are platforms for waging endless wars of aggression against invented enemies, part of its drive for global hegemony, risking catastrophic nuclear war.

No nations threaten US security - not Russia, China, Iran, North Korea, or any others. Phony claims pretend otherwise, the latest from a Government Accountability Office report titled “Long-range emerging threats facing the United States.”

The report is based on fabricated claims by the US war department, State Department, Homeland Security Department, and Director of National Intelligence.

So-called “emerging threats” it named don’t exist, including:

  • nonexistent “Chinese Global expansions…its rise as a regional and global power…challeng(ing)” US hegemonic aims? China indeed is rising politically, economically, financially and militarily - yet poses no threats to the US or other nations.

  • nonexistent “Russian Global Expansion…increasing its capability to challenge the United States across multiple warfare domains?” Unlike Washington, Moscow is non-revanchist, seeking world peace and cooperative relations with other nations.

  • “Iranian Political and Military Developments…expanding its influence by increasing the size and capabilities of its network of military, intelligence, and surrogate forces?”

Iran is the region’s leading peace and stability proponent. It hasn’t attacked another country in centuries, what the US, NATO, and Israel do repeatedly.

  • North Korean Military Developments…developing capabilities to strike North America and its allies?”

Throughout its post-WW II history, the DPRK never attacked another country. It threatens none now, seeking regional peace and stability. Its military capabilities are solely for defense, knowing the threat the US poses.

The GAO report also cites what it calls “violent extremist organizations and ideologies” threatening America - failing to explain the US supports the scourge of these elements it pretends to oppose.

The report lied claiming the US “faces a complex array of threats to our national security, including our political, economic, military, and social systems,” adding:

“These threats will continue to evolve as new and resurgent adversaries develop politically and militarily, as weapons and technology advance, and as environmental and demographic changes occur.”

Washington needs invented threats to unjustifiably justify its imperial agenda, its endless war on humanity at home and abroad, its rage to colonize and control other nations.

Its agenda is hostile to world peace, stability, and cooperative relations among all nations. What US imperialism is all about is humanity’s greatest threat.
