The NYT Blames Syria for US-Led High Crimes on the Country
by Stephen Lendman
The Times is a virtual mouthpiece for US imperial ruthlessness – blaming victimized nations for its high crimes of war and against humanity against them.
Its latest disinformation piece revisits East Ghouta.
The Times: “A besieged rebel stronghold near Damascus, population 400,000, it is where the forces of President Bashar al-Assad, dropped chemical weapons in 2013, crossing President Barack Obama’s notorious ‘red line that turned out to be no line at all.”
Fact: ISIS, al-Nusra and other terrorists in Syria operate as US imperial foot soldiers against its legitimate government. They’re not “rebels.”
Fact: US-supported terrorists alone used CWs numerous times, not Syrian forces. The Times disgracefully lied claiming otherwise.
The Times: “The shells, missiles and barrel bombs are still falling, exacerbating some of the war’s worst carnage. Cease-fires go unheeded. The White House is distracted.”
Fact: Unanimously adopted Security Council Res. 2401 permits combat operations against ISIS, al Nusra, and elements connected to them.
Fact: Syria and Russia scrupulous observe ceasefire terms as mandated, continuing operations against against terrorists throughout the country, including in East Ghouta, US-supported terrorists holding its residents hostage as human shields.
Washington and Turkey flagrantly breached SC Res. 2401 straightaway – continuing to commit high crimes unaccountably.
Trump escalated what Obama began – naked aggression on Syria for regime change and imperial control. There’s nothing “civil” about what’s going on, as the Times and other media scoundrels claim.
The Times: “Once upon a time, Syria was a beautiful, cultured country. Today it is a shambles, and many of us have turned away.”
Fact: The Times disgracefully blames Assad for US-led aggression, massacring civilians, inflicting enormous destruction, committing appalling atrocities, causing the world’s severest refugee crisis.
The Times: “Assad…turn(ed) (his) armies on (his) own people…”
A bald-faced lie. Throughout the war, Syrian forces have been liberating cities, towns and villages held hostage by US-supported terrorists.
The Times: “…Syrian government and Russian forces bombed (people) out of their home(s).”
US-led terror-bombing alone is responsible for mass slaughter of civilians and destruction – not Russia or Syria.
US-supported terrorists continue brutalizing and murdering civilians.
The Times and other media scoundrels blame Syria and other victims of US imperial ruthlessness for high crimes committed against them – truth-telling airbrushed from their reports.
