Liberating Southwest Syria from US-Supported Terrorists
by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org – Home – Stephen Lendman)
The latest reports are encouraging. Government forces, greatly aided by Russian airpower, are liberating territory in southwest Syria at a rapid clip.
AMN News and Southfront reported similar information. Eastern Daraa province was liberated, along with southwest towns and villages, Syrian forces advancing steadily, overcoming resistance.
According to AMN News, an unnamed Jordanian official said a ceasefire was agreed on in southern Syria, claiming a reconciliation agreement will follow – similar to what was achieved earlier in Aleppo and Eastern Ghouta.
On Friday, Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah was quoted, saying a “very big victory” in southern Syria is imminent.
AMN obtained information on Russia’s reconciliation offer to US-supported terrorists in southwest Syria, aiming to end fighting in the area.
They replicated what was offered and eventually accepted by terrorists in Aleppo and Eastern Ghouta.
Terms include surrendering heavy and other lethal weapons, small ones to be kept. A 12-hour ceasefire was agreed on between terrorists and Russia alone, Syrian forces not involved in the deal, continuing their rapid advance.
On Friday, deplorable Israeli military intelligence-connected DEBKAfile (DF) propaganda claimed Trump “decided to let Syria go to Russia” to engage Putin in summit talks, adding:
Israel, Jordan, Kurdish YPG fighters, and US-supported terrorists “were left to fend for their own security as best they could…Iranian and Hezbollah forces…mov(ing) in along with the Syrian army.”
Area “refugees will accept a few dollars to support their families for donning bomb belts and blowing themselves up against Israeli positions on the border fence.”
DF also claimed Syrian military intelligence gained control of the large Rukban refugee camp bordering Jordan.
Take all of the above with a grain of salt. No credible evidence proves any of it. US forces control the Rukban camp, used to recruit refugees as proxy anti-government fighters.
Days earlier in June, Sputnik News reported hundreds of refugees from the camp fleeing toward Damascus, “seeking assistance from Syrian authorities.”
They were held hostage by US forces, denied humanitarian aid, one escapee saying:
“We thought we would be sa(fe) there, but as a result nearly died of hunger. It turned out that there was nothing there, nothing at all,: adding:
“Even the food and medicine we did have were brought to us by friends from Damascus, and we paid for it. We gave everything we had.”
An unnamed UN source called conditions in the US-controlled camp a “humanitarian disaster.”
Syrian UN envoy Bashar al-Jaafari blasted what he called “pure (US) aggression and occupation” at Rukban and nearby illegally controlled US al-Tanf military base – used to train terrorists.
DF hyped a nonexistent “disastrous security calamity” along Israel’s northern border – falsely calling Rukban a camp for Iran and Hezbollah to “terrorize northern Israel.”
Most often, DF is an Israeli military intelligence propaganda service. Most of what it reports lacks credibility – its above claims pure rubbish.
