Unpunished Israeli High Crimes Against Palestinians
by Stephen Lendman
For decades, Israeli ruthlessness against Palestinians has been a daily affair – treating them as viciously as Nazis mistreated Jews.
Since 1948, they’ve endured virtually every form of indignity, degradation and crime against humanity imaginable, including brutal torture in detention.
They face daily abuses largely ignored in the West, US and EU nations one-sidedly supporting apartheid high crimes. Israel’s contempt for rule of law principles is longstanding, its ruthlessness a high crime against humanity.
Zionism is the enemy of Jews and non-Jews alike, endangering world peace, threatening humanity – a corrosive, destructive, racist, extremist, undemocratic, hateful ideology.
It claims Jewish supremacy, specialness and uniqueness as God’s “chosen people,” much like Nazi Aryan doctrine.
It violates fundamental human and civil rights, deploring peace, equity and justice, choosing confrontation over diplomacy, espousing violence against a beleaguered people as official policy.
It seeks dominance through militarism, intimidation and naked aggression. Judaization of historic Palestine aims for:
- total control of Palestine;
- terrorizing Palestinians to leave or accept subjugation;
- wanting remaining ones ghettoized in isolated cantons;
- stealing all valued land, displacing its Arab residents;
- exploiting Palestinian water and other valued resources;
- installing and controlling subservient Palestinian leadership;
- using it to enforce apartheid viciousness;
- terrorizing Palestinians into submission; and
- denying their fundamental rights and welfare.
The late Michael Mandel called “Israel’s West Bank and Gaza settlements…war crimes” under Canadian law, explaining:
“Under the Canadian Crimes Against Humanity and War Crimes Act 2000, c. 24, Israel’s settlements in territories taken in the June 1967 war constitute war crimes punishable in Canada.”
Mandel cited Section 8, paragraph 2 of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (ICC).
Item viii prohibits “(t)he transfer, directly or indirectly, by the Occupying Power of parts of its own civilian population into the territory it occupies, or the deportation or transfer of all or parts of the population of the occupied territory within or outside this territory,” Mandel adding:
Although “Israel denies it, there is no question (it’s) an Occupying Power for the purposes of the Geneva Convention, the Rome Statute, and the Canadian Crimes Against Humanity and War Crimes Act.”
Francis Boyle earlier accused Israel of “heinous war crimes inflicted every day…against the Palestinian people,” including “willful killing” and state terror, more of it on Friday.
Israel attacked Palestinian protesters in Gaza and the West Bank with live fire, wounding dozens, some seriously – one Palestinian near death from wounds to his head and abdomen, according to Gaza Health Ministry’s Dr. Ashraf al-Qedra.
Hundreds of Palestinians protested on Friday. Eyewitnesses said Israeli forces fired numerous live rounds, including by IDF sharpshooters, trained to kill.
Since Trump’s December 6 Jerusalem declaration, protests against it occur regularly, including every Friday in Gaza and across the West Bank.
February 9 protests included a peaceful anti-Trump rally near the Beit El settlement, following Friday prayers.
Soldiers attacked participants with live fire, rubber-coated steel bullets, tear gas and beatings. Dozens of injuries were reported.
Ruthless Israeli persecution of Palestinians continues daily, with full US support and encouragement – both countries allied to keep a long-beleaguered people subjugated.
The so-called peace process is pure fantasy. Washington and Israel deplore it, pretending otherwise.
