Trump’s Hollow Holocaust Remembrance Day Statement

Holocaust Remembrance Day ignores overall Nazi Germany’s untermenschen (sub-human) exploitation and extermination campaign, Slavs affected most of all, mainly Russians, Poles and Serbs.
Others targeted included Gypsies, Jehovah’s Witnesses, homosexuals, Blacks, the physically and mentally disabled, communists, and other regime political opponents, social democrats and dissenting clergy among them.
In its rage to solidify a dominant Ayran master race, Jews and Gypsies were targeted for elimination, along with the deaf, the blind, the physically disabled, the mentally ill, homosexuals, and alcoholics - either sterilized, worked to death, or murdered.
They were viewed as “genetically defective.” Millions of Slavs were massacred or worked to death as virtual slaves. Some Jews were kept alive for the skills they offered, before eliminating them when no longer useful.
Nazi propaganda portrayed Jews and other untermenschen as rats and vermin, contaminating German society.
In 1943, Kaiser Wilhelm Institute for Anthropology, Human Genetics, and Eugenics’ professor Eugen Fischer said “(i)t is a rare and special good fortune for a theoretical scientist to flourish at a time when the prevailing ideology welcomes it, and its findings immediately serve the policy of the state.”
The environment let criminals like Joseph Mengele conduct cruel and inhuman experiments on live subjects.
German genocide affected its own Aryan population, hundreds of thousands sterilized or gassed, eliminated for being genetically inferior. Homosexuality was considered a criminal offense, many interned in concentration camps.
After invading Poland, Hitler ordered the elimination of “useless eaters,” including severely retarded Germans. Tens of thousands were killed.
The scourge of Nazism affected countless millions of victims besides Jews. Holocaust Remembrance Day ignores them. Trump gave them short shrift.
On Friday, he issued a statement, saying “(w)e take this opportunity to recall the Nazis’ systematic persecution and brutal murder of six million Jewish people.”
“On International Holocaust Remembrance Day, we acknowledge this dark stain on human history and vow to never let it happen again.”
It’s ongoing in multiple US war theaters. Post-9/11 alone, millions perished from US aggression, related violence, untreated diseases, starvation and overall deprivation.
The precise number of Jewish deaths under the Nazis is uncertain. Millions of exterminated untermenschen is indisputable.
Norman Finkelstein’s “The Holocaust Industry: Reflections on the Exploitation of Jewish Suffering” discusses its politicization and commercialization.
He explained the myth of unique Jewish suffering - connected to power politics, a way to deflect Israeli criticism. Anti-Semitism accusations target those who dare. Israeli high crimes go unmentioned in the mainstream.
Nazi genocide wasn’t unique. In WW II, many more Slavs perished than Jews. America’s Native American genocide (the “500 year war”) took more lives than total numbers perishing in WW I and II combined.
The African genocide far exceeded the horrors Hitler inflicted on Jews - throughout 500 years of colonization, oppression, exploitation, and slavery.
Historian Howard Zinn called US slavery “the most cruel form in history: the frenzy for limitless profit that comes from capitalistic agriculture; the reduction of the slave to less than human status by the use of racial hatred, with that relentless clarity based on color, where white was master, black was slave.”
US responsibility for post-WW II genocides are conveniently forgotten - affecting North Koreans, Southeast Asians, Central and Latin Americans, Africans, Afghans, Iraqis, Libyans, Syrians, Yemenis and others.
The Palestinian Nakba gets short shrift. Israeli genocidal mass slaughter and displacement go unmentioned in the mainstream.
Palestinians today are as brutalized as Jews were in Nazi Germany. Israeli state terror targets them ruthlessly.
Not a word from Trump or his predecessors on all of the above horrors, no acknowledgement of US guilt, nothing explaining America’s imperial project.
It continues raping and destroying countries - part of its strategy for dominating planet earth, controlling its resources and exploiting its people.
Holocaust Remembrance Day, focuses on Jewish suffering alone - ignoring countless millions of other victims, perishing from US and other genocides.
A Genocide Remembrance Day should acknowledge them all.
