Trump’s Deal of the Century Demands Unconditional Palestinian Surrender

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.orgHome – Stephen Lendman)

Oslo was a Palestinian Versailles, Arafat’s disgrace, an accord to let Israel steal West Bank and East Jerusalem land from its rightful owners, dispossessing them, along with looting Palestinian resources and a whole lot more harming them.

Invited to attend the September 1993 White House signing ceremony, the late Edward Said declined.

Following the sellout, he called it a “degrading spectacle,” Bill Clinton acting “like a 20th century Roman emperor, shepherding two vassal(s) through rituals of reconciliation and obeisance,” adding:

Arafat’s capitulation to US/Israeli demands was “truly astonishing,” getting nothing in return but empty promises. Oslo solidified Israeli colonization, apartheid, and occupation harshness.

Trump’s no-peace/peace plan “deal of the century” is more of the same — from the little that’s known so far, release of the plan repeatedly delayed because of its totally unacceptable terms, giving Israel virtually everything it wants, Palestinians getting betrayal again.

In 1993, they got nothing for renouncing armed struggle, recognizing Israel’s right to exist, and agreeing to leave major unresolved issues for later final status talks. They’re still waiting.

Major unresolved issues include an independent sovereign Palestine free from occupation, the right of return, settlements, borders, water and other resource rights, as well as East Jerusalem as exclusive Palestinian territory and future capital.

Trump’s “deal of the century” agrees to none of the above. Reportedly, it denies Palestinian self-determination, a universally recognizes right under international law.

It leaves them subjugated under occupation harshness, Israel able to harden apartheid rule — settlement construction and land theft to continue unabated, Jerusalem to be Israel’s exclusive capital, diaspora Palestinians denied the right of return.

The no-deal/deal calls for abandoning their fundamental rights, their liberation from Israeli control over virtual all aspects of their lives under militarized occupation off the table in return for fantasy “economic incentives” — a neoliberal hoax, similar to John Kerry’s no-peace/peace plan.

He proposed $4 billion in fantasy economic incentives. It was all about attracting exploitive private investments, benefitting Israeli and Western business interests exclusively, imposing greater neoliberal harshness on the Territories than already.

Reportedly, that’s a core element of Trump’s no-peace/deal of the century, what no responsible leadership would accept.

Like decades of earlier no-peace/peace plans, Trump’s scheme is dead — before, not on arrival.

Since Israel stole 78% of historic Palestine in 1948, the rest in 1967, Palestinians have been ruthlessly persecuted, subjugated, and exploited —  denied their fundamental rights.

Along with the US war OF terror, not on it, Israeli/Palestinian no-peace/peace plans are the greatest hoax in modern times — a tyrannical subjugator imposing its will on a defenseless people, the world community ignoring their suffering, supporting the oppressor, not the oppressed.

It’s unclear when Trump’s plan will be released, possibly in June, maybe later, maybe never given Palestinian refusal to deal with his regime — rejecting his scheme before release.

DLT slumlord son-in-law Jared Kushner and regime international negotiator Jason Greenblatt are spearheading the follow-up Palestinian Versailles scheme.

Both are Ziofascist ideologues hostile to Palestinian rights, their scheme demanding everything in return for nothing.

According to Kushner, the deal includes a “robust business plan” — to benefit Israeli and Western business interests exclusively he failed to explain, what neoliberal harshness is all about, along with rejecting social justice, everything for monied interests at the expense of ordinary people.

Kushner lied claiming the Trump regime’s “focus is (on) how (to) make the lives of the Palestinian people better” — what Israel and the West haven’t given a damn about in over 70 years, clearly not now!

Trump’s deal is all about exploiting Palestinians more than already, not helping them — the same way his regime treats Americans and ordinary people everywhere, serving privileged interests exclusively at their expense.

Last week, PA prime minister  Mohammad Shtayyeh rejected Trump no-peace/deal of the century before arrival, calling it “born dead,” adding:

“There are no partners in Palestine for Trump. There are no Arab partners for Trump, and there are no European partners for Trump.”

Palestinians demand self-determination within pre-June 1967 borders, freedom from occupation harshness, the right of their diaspora population to return, control over their land, borders, and resources, along with East Jerusalem as their exclusive capital.

Nothing less is acceptable. Illegally moving the US embassy to Jerusalem, ending aid for Palestinian refugees, slashing it for all its people, and supporting Israel’s undeclared war on the Territories, Gazans under suffocating blockade harmed most of all, showed Trump regime contempt for Palestinian rights.

From Truman to Trump, their fundamental rights were denied. Prospects for turning a new page ahead are nil — things likely to worsen, not improve, notably if the Netanyahu regime illegally annexes Palestinian territory.

It’s likely the next shoe to drop ahead, maybe before yearend — ending no-peace/peace talks forevermore if things turn out this way.
