US Terror-Bombing Syria With Chemical Weapons
by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org – Home – Stephen Lendman)
Washington notoriously uses chemical, biological and radiological weapons in waging war – flagrant violations of international law, yet never held accountable for its high crimes.
On Wednesday, Syrian media reported US-led coalition warplanes terror-bombed a Deir Ezzor province village, al-Suwar, using white phosphorous munitions, able to burn flesh to the bone on contact, water unable to extinguish it, victims suffering an excruciating death, torture until life sapped from their bodies.
Since 2014, US-led terror-bombing massacred tens of thousands of civilians in Iraq and Syria, more dying daily – on the phony pretext of combating ISIS, including use of terror weapons like white phosphorous.
Last month, Syria’s Foreign Ministry sent identical letters to UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres and Security Council president Amn Abdellarif Aboulatta, highlighting US-led war crimes, targeting residential areas and vital infrastructure, massacring civilians ruthlessly, including use of banned weapons.
Guterres and other UN officials pretend not to notice, failing to condemn US war crimes, guilty of complicity through silence and failure to uphold UN Charter principles.
Despite everything Washington has thrown at Syria to topple its government for the past six-and-a-half years, the nation’s future is brighter than any time since early in the conflict.
On Tuesday, Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Moallem said “we are writing the last chapter of the crisis in Syria thanks to the victories of the Syrian Arab Army and the support provided by the allies.”
Battlefield successes continue, areas liberated from ISIS and al-Nusra control, smashing other US-supported terrorists.
Moallem blasted America’s presence in his country, operating illegally without government permission, waging war for regime change, fighting a losing battle.
Syria’s goal is liberating every square meter of territory, eliminating US-backed terrorists, defeating its imperial game.
“We have information and eyewitnesses,” showing US aircraft “transporting ISIS terrorists” to other areas, Moallem explained. Washington redeploys them to other battleground areas, the tactic used in Iraq and Syria.
Speaking for his government, Moallem rejected Kurdish independence in northern Syria. Short of partitioning the country, he’s prepared to negotiate its autonomy once ISIS and other terrorist groups are defeated, peace restored, Kurds given much of what they seek as part of the Syrian Arab Republic, not separate from it.
It’s not what Washington or Israel have in mind, wanting Syria partitioned, US forces maintaining a permanent presence in as much territory as they can be grab.
Kurds are promised anything they want to hear, used as imperial foot soldiers, to be abandoned later if their services are no longer needed, or if new strategic aims are pursued – the duplicitous way Washington operates, why it can never be trusted.
Switching Kurdish allegiance to Damascus, a reliable ally, would be a huge defeat for US plans in Syria. What Moallem suggested can work, especially with strong Russian support.
