The Struggle for Venezuela’s Soul
by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org – Home – Stephen Lendman)
Republicans and undemocratic Dems want US-controlled right wing puppet rule throughout Latin America and everywhere else.
They want democratic governance the way it should be eliminated wherever it exists. They want all sovereign independent governments toppled – notably in Russia, China, Iran and Venezuela.
They want control over world resources and populations. They want ruler/serf societies everywhere, no more middle class.
They want wealth concentrated in privileged hands exclusively, NATO operating as a US-controlled global military, a state of permanent war on humanity at home and abroad to benefit Wall Street and the military, industrial, security, media complex.
They want the message controlled, alternative truth-telling voices silenced. They want rule of law principles replaced by their own.
They want neoliberal harshness replacing social justice. They want fascist rule instituted globally, nonbelievers eliminated – their world unsafe and unfit to live in.
Their strategy involves endless wars of aggression, color revolutions, and old-fashioned coups like what’s going on in Venezuela, wanting tyranny replacing Bolivarian fairness, governance serving all Venezuelans equitably eliminated.
Their tactics include propaganda and sanctions war, making Venezuela’s economy scream, falsely blaming its ruling authorities for US harshness imposed on the country.
The CIA orchestrated violent street protests, involving mayhem and vandalism. Earlier coup attempts against Hugo Chavez and Nicolas Maduro failed, the latest attempt faring no better.
Everything Trump regime hardliners threw at Maduro and his government since January failed to achieve its objectives.
Designated frontman on the ground in Venezuela Guaido is widely reviled. Turnouts for his addresses are waning, largely drawing middle class and well-off Venezuelans. Ordinary people in the barrios despise him.
Russia’s Foreign Ministry said as long as the Trump regime continues propaganda war on the country, perhaps they’re focused away from turning things hot – likely so, possibly not.
Put nothing past hardline extremists Pompeo and Bolton in charge of Trump’s geopolitical agenda. He’s co-opted to go along with their agenda.
His regime called on the international community to deny Russian aircraft en route to Venezuela denied the right of passage through their airspace.
The 2002 Treaty on Open Skies permits unarmed free passage and aerial surveillance flights over the territory of signatory countries.
It’s all about enhancing mutual cooperation and understanding among nations, promoting openness and transparency of military forces and activities in the interest of world peace, stability, and security.
The treaty is separate from the civil aviation open skies agreement – granting commercial aircraft permission to fly through airspace of countries and land in their territory.
The Trump regime wants non-hostile Russian government and commercial aircraft denied the right of free passage through airspace of other nations en route to Venezuela, Cuba, Syria, and other states on its target list for regime change.
It want Moscow denied the right to aid these countries cooperatively – legitimate actions it calls “provocative.”
In response, Russia’s Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said the following:
“(W)e’ve been through this before. When we sent humanitarian aid to Syria, our planes were also denied airspace clearance. Remember what obstacles they put up before Russian flights.”
US efforts to “promote democracy” is all about wanting it eliminated in Venezuela and everywhere else where it exists – most of all wanting its emergence in the US prevented – a fascist police state pretending to be otherwise.
Russia vowed to resist hostile US actions against Venezuela and Cuba, calling unilaterally imposed sanctions flagrantly “unlawful and illegitimate,” stressing that these countries are “allies and strategic partners” of Moscow.
On Monday, neocon extremist Mike Pence turned truth on its head, falsely blaming Maduro for US war by other means on Venezuela.
He repeated the same litany of bald-faced Big Lies he and other Trump regime hardliners state with disturbing regularity, regurgitated by the major media echo chamber.
On Friday, Russia’s Foreign Ministry called on the Trump regime to abandon its attempt to topple democratically elected and reelected President Maduro.
Russian effort to persuade US hardliners to do the right thing falls on deaf ears every time. Diplomatic outreach efforts to hegemons bent on global dominance is a waste of time and effort.
The only language they understand is toughness. Giving the US a taste of its own medicine is the only effective strategy against its imperial agenda – short of launching WW III.
