Russian Foreign Ministry on Syria, Iran and Yemen

On April 28, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov hosted a meeting with his Iranian and Turkish counterparts.

According to Russia’s Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova (MZ below), they’ll focus on developments in Syria, its dire humanitarian situation, and endless war with no resolution so far.

“(T)he situation in Syria continued to be affected by the aftermath of the April 14 US-British-French massive missile and bomb strikes,” MZ explained, adding:

“Regrettably, the radicals and extremists have intensified their operations in the wake of the Western Troika’s actions, which gave them an opportunity to catch their breath and get reinforcements” – supplied by foreign powers.

Evacuation of US-supported terrorists and their family members from Qalamoun to northern Syria was a positive development.

Damascus and Moscow are going all-out to deliver vitally needed humanitarian aid to liberated areas – what Washington, its rogue allies and the UN fail to provide.

MZ: “…French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian (falsely) accus(ed) Russia of ‘permanent manipulation,’ regarding the alleged chemical incident in…Douma.”

“The French side (falsely) claims that Russia is spreading videos with children while ’45 people lost their lives. (T)he facts are completely different” from Le Drain’s falsified account – his country guilty of aggression against Syria along with its US and UK imperial partners.

MZ’s briefing came on the day 17 Douma eyewitnesses debunked the falsified Western narrative at OPCW headquarters in the Hague, explaining no CW attack occurred in the town, no one harmed by chemical toxins, no one killed.

The official media scoundrel supported narrative is a bald-faced lie – discussed in previous articles.

MZ: “It has proved impossible so far to find the victims or injured people that French Foreign Minster Le Drian spoke about, or even traces of the alleged use of chemical weapons.”

“Representatives of the French political parties doubt the credibility of the video and photo materials that were used to fabricate accusations against the Syrian authorities.”

During parliamentary debate, “they said there was no solid proof of the fact that (Damascus) had used chemical weapons in Douma…(S)ome MPs directly pointed to the staged nature of the incident.”

A German parliament research unit accused Washington, Britain and France of flagrantly violating the UN Charter by terror-bombing Syrian facilities.

Germany’s government refused to participate in the attacks, but falsely called them “necessary and proportionate.” MZ called this view “paradoxical,” supporting what demands condemnation.

Russia is repeatedly accused of falsifying events when it presents evidence debunking the official Western narrative.

MZ: “On April 24−25, Brussels hosted the EU-organized conference (on) ‘Supporting the future of Syria and the region.’ “

Russia attended, Syria excluded. MZ asked how a conference could be held on the future of the country without its representatives involved.

“It is not clear” who they intend helping, MZ diplomatically said. Washington wants Syria carved up and controlled, a pro-Western puppet regime replacing its legitimate government.

On Saturday, Lavrov met separately with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif. Syria, the JCPOA nuclear deal and other issues were discussed.

Zarif said “(w)e have announced since the outset that Syria has no military solution and that the sides must focus on a political solution.”

It’s unattainable as long as Washington and its rogue allies want endless war, not resolution.

The JCPOA  is jeopardized by Trump’s threat to pull out, along with French President Macron calling for unacceptable changes.

MZ: “Russia has said on numerous occasions that there is no possibility of renegotiating, amending or supplementing the JCPOA. The deal establishes a balanced mechanism that takes into consideration the interests of all parties.”

“Destroying this fragile balance of interests as set forth in the JCPOA would have serious ramifications in terms of international security and non-proliferation.”

Russia rejects any separate deal agreed on by Washington, Britain and France. It won’t permit Security Council adoption. Nor will China.

Yemeni Houthi Ansar Allah movement leadership confirmed the April 19 death of its Supreme Political Council President Saleh Ali al-Sammad from Saudi terror-bombing.

Mahdi al-Mashat reportedly replaced him. Houthi officials vowed to avenge the death of their political leader, including by increased missile and rocket strikes on Saudi targets.

US/UK-orchestrated Saudi-led terror-bombing and blockade have been ongoing for over three years.

There’s no end of it in sight, Yemeni civilians suffering most, casualties mounting daily, the death toll far greater than downplayed official numbers.
