Reinventing the Trump Regime’s Coup Plot in Venezuela
by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org – Home – Stephen Lendman)
A coup by any other name doesn’t change things. Falsely claiming what’s going on is democracy building turns reality on its head.
There’s nothing democratic about wanting a sitting government forcibly toppled, wanting it replaced with US-controlled puppet rule, wanting the nation’s resources looted, its people exploited as virtual serfs, their fundamental rights denied.
There’s good news and bad to report on Venezuela. Best news of all is the Bolivarian Republic foiled Trump regime coup efforts to eliminate it so far – supported by around three-fourths of world nations and the UN.
Further good news is overwhelming opposition by Venezuelans against foreign intervention in their country – especially by military force.
Key for Maduro is retaining support from Venezuela’s military. Trump regime pressure, bullying and attempted bribes failed to get its commanders to switch sides, remaining loyal to their country and legitimate ruling authorities.
As long as they’re firm against foreign intervention along with the vast majority of soldiers, intending to defend the country if threatened or attacked, Maduro may be able to defeat the coup plot, saving Bolivarian social democracy, the region’s best – a threat of a good example, why US imperialists want it eliminated.
Sanctions along with other forms of economic and financial war don’t topple governments. Cuba withstood them for six decades, Iran for the past 40 years, Venezuela since imposed by the Obama regime, greatly escalated by Trump.
More good news was surprising. Despite serving as a virtual press agent for Trump’s coup plot, the NYT exposed the Big Lie claim that Venezuelan forces torched two trucks with so-called “humanitarian aid” on February 23 – on the Colombian side of the Venezuelan border, citing Bogota authorities.
Anti-Bolivarian elements were responsible, so-called guarimberos, wanting Maduro wrongfully blamed for the incident. Government forces on their side of the border had nothing to do with it – nor any other Bolivarian supporters.
On Sunday, the NYT swallowed hard, headining: “Footage Contradicts US Claim That Nicolas Maduro Burned Aid Convoy,” saying:
“The State Department released a video saying Mr. Maduro had ordered the trucks burned. And Venezuela’s opposition held up the images of the burning aid, reproduced on dozens of news sites and television screens throughout Latin America, as evidence of Mr. Maduro’s cruelty,” adding:
“But there is a problem: The opposition” was responsible…”(F)ootage released by the Colombian government (showed) a Molotov cocktail thrown by an antigovernment protester was the most likely trigger for the blaze.”
“The same protester can be seen 20 minutes earlier, in a different video, hitting another truck with a Molotov cocktail…”
In February, the Times and other establishment media falsely accused Maduro of torching so-called aid – unrelated to anything other than furthering the Trump regime’s coup plot.
Surprisingly, the self-styled newspaper of record reported the truth about the staged incident – belatedly, instead of questioning the Big Lie about it straightaway.
The Times and other media scoundrels support Washington’s imperial agenda, including its wars of aggression, color revolutions, and coups like what’s trying to topple Maduro – falsely calling him a “dictator” and other pejoratives, ignoring his democratic triumphs.
Wall Street Journalist propagandist Mary O’Grady wins presstitution awards for supporting the imperial state. Her writing features managed news misinformation and disinformation, Big Lies and fake news exclusively – truth-telling excluded from her rubbish.
She lied calling Venezuelan social democracy under Maduro a “dictatorship.” She lied claiming the nation’s power outage was the government’s fault, ignoring clear sabotage, a US cyberattack on the nation’s electrical power grid.
There’s no ambiguity about it. All the Big Lies in the world repeated ad nauseam won’t change the cold hard truth.
She lied saying “(e)very aspect of the nation’s infrastructure, physical and institutional, has broken down.”
She’s a geopolitical dumbbell, falsely claiming “the right amount of financial pressure” can topple Maduro. She lied claiming Cuba runs Venezuelan policy, calling the country its “South American satellite.”
Cuba’s leading exports to Venezuela and other countries are goodwill, doctors, and teachers. Washington’s leading exports are mass slaughter, destruction, and human misery.
O’what’s her name reinvented US fascist rule, calling it democratic, ignoring one-party governance with two extremist right wings: the war party she wholeheartedly supports, staying silent on its high crimes like all other prostitutes of the press – paid by their bosses to lie, suppressing hard truths.
That’s what the deplorable state of US-led Western media is all about – a collective lying machine, willfully and maliciously deceiving readers, viewers and listeners.
Venezuela is the region’s leading social democracy. Republicans and undemocratic Dems want fascist tyranny replacing it.
That’s what the coup plot is all about – what’s vital to drive a stake through and kill!
