US Propaganda Bullhorn Roars Against Venezuela
by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org – Home – Stephen Lendman)
It’s roaring daily by Trump regime hardliners and supportive establishment media – pretending the ongoing coup attempt against Venezuela’s legitimate government is democracy building.
According to the State Department, “Venezuela is currently suffering an historic political, economic, and social crisis (sic), one that is generating unprecedented collateral damage (sic) – mostly in the form of mass migration — throughout the Western Hemisphere (sic),” adding:
“Hunger, malnutrition, disease, and poverty have spiked in the last 24 months (sic), leading countries such as the United States to characterize the Venezuelan situation as a manmade humanitarian crisis (sic).”
“At the core of Venezuela’s calamity is a destroyed economy, one built around corruption, cronyism, farcical policies, and incompetent management.”
All of the above combines disinformation, Big Lies, and distortion. There’s no ambiguity about what’s going on in the country.
Washington bears full responsibility for its economic hard times, caused by sanctions war, sabotage, and other dirty tricks, compounded by low oil prices.
The State Department turned truth on its head claiming Washington’s “chief priority is contributing to Venezuelans’ own efforts to return the country to a democratic, stable, prosperous, and inclusive Venezuela (sic).”
Trump regime policies are all about eliminating the hemisphere’s preeminent democracy, governance Republicans and undemocratic Dems abhor, tolerating it nowhere, notably not at home.
The US is a money-controlled plutocracy, a fantasy democracy, a totalitarian one-party state with two extremist right wings, waging war on humanity at home and abroad.
Trump is captive to dark forces controlling him, a businessman mostly focused on profit-making, serving privileged interests and his own exclusively, contemptuous of ordinary people everywhere.
He’s a front man for the nation’s imperial agenda, its military/industrial/security complex, Wall Street, and other corporate interests.
He’s hostile to world peace, democratic values, the rule of law, and sovereign independent governments – notably in Iran and Venezuela, waging war on these countries by other means, wanting them transformed into US vassal states, their ruling authorities toppled, along with one-sidedly supporting Israeli apartheid viciousness.
State Department claims about US aims in Venezuela are transparent Big Lies. They have nothing to do with supporting “democratic governance and human rights”, nothing about “strengthen(ing) civil society.”
They’re unrelated to “fairness, transparency, and equal opportunity in (the) political processes, including elections, and institutions…”
They’re hostile to “economic prosperity” for ordinary Venezuelans. They have nothing to do with US or Venezuelan security.
They have everything to do with wanting US puppet rule, replacing Maduro, along with eliminating Venezuelan democracy and controlling its valued resources, mainly its world’s largest oil reserves.
Establishment media war on the Bolivarian Republic supports the Trump regime’s coup plot, the NYT in the lead with its global reach.
The self-styled newspaper of record pretends the Trump regime “is preparing an economic relief package for Venezuela that would put United States dollars directly into the hands of Venezuelans in the event that the government of President Nicolas Maduro falls.”
Fact: US economic, financial, and sanctions war robbed Venezuela of over $30 billion dollars in the last two years – notably by stealing its assets, blocking its oil sales, and other dirty tricks to make its economy scream.
Fact: Trump regime hardliners are going all out to create human misery in the country, causing harm, far less than aimed for because of vital social programs and foreign aid, mainly from Russia.
The Times quoted Trump’s national economic council director Larry Kudlow’s Big Lie, falsely claiming “(w)e have a lot of plans to revitalize the Venezuelan economy (sic) and to move very rapidly (sic). It would be a rescue plan (sic). It would be a restructuring plan (sic),” adding:
The Trump regime aims to use IMF funding to “stabilize” Venezuela’s economy. Its loans are all about opening economies to corporate pillage, why it’s known as the loan shark of last resort. Responsible governments want nothing to do with it.
Whatever the Trump regime has in mind is all about raping the country, eliminating its democratic governance, immiserating its people, looting its resources, and claiming another imperial trophy if successful.
The Times refuses to recognize Maduro’s legitimacy as Venezuela’s president, supporting US designated puppet/usurper in waiting Guaido, along with backing the Trump regime’s coup plot, pretending it’s democracy building the broadsheet and Washington abhor.
Pompeo, Bolton, Abrams, and Kudlow warned of escalated sanctions war on Venezuela – supported by the Times instead of condemning its illegality.
According to the neocon/CIA house organ Washington Post, (imposter) “Guaido and his (imperial) supporters (are) weigh(ing) growing threats from Maduro,” adding:
He “remain(s) defiant after” Venezuela’s Constituent Assembly unanimously stripped his immunity. Indictment, arrest, prosecution, and imprisonment may follow a probe into his illegal activities – notably acting as a front man for the Trump regime’s coup plot.
WaPo lied claiming the Constituent Assembly was created “to counter the…National Assembly.” Legally established by national referendum, it’s charged with revising or rewriting the Constitution, along with restoring and maintaining order.
WaPo’s article and others on Venezuela show desperation. The same goes for other establishment media – Maduro gaining support at the expense of increasingly reviled Guaido and strong public opposition to foreign interference, especially by military force.
Short of ordering it, the Trump regime’s coup plot failed, its key objectives not achieved, unlikely to fare better ahead than already.
The hearts and minds of most Venezuelans support Bolivarian social democracy, wanting it preserved and protected – polar opposite Trump regime aims.
