Netanyahu Threatens Escalated Violence in Gaza

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org – Home – Stephen Lendman)

Illegal Israeli occupation harshness is tyrannical by any standard, especially its Gaza blockade.

It’s enforced solely for political reasons, Hamas posing no threat whatever to Israeli security.

The world community is dismissive about its repressive apartheid rule, uncaring about Palestinian rights and welfare, ignoring horrendous Israeli high crimes, ongoing for 70 years without letup.

Resisting tyranny is a fundamental right. Weekly nonviolent Great March of Return Gazan demonstrations are legitimate, deserving universal support.

They’re all about wanting illegal blockade and occupation ended, along with wanting Israel held accountable for high crimes too egregious to ignore.

They’ve continued courageously since March 30, showing no signs of ending – despite over 200 demonstrators brutally killed, more than 22,000 injured from live fire and other terror tactics, high crimes gone unpunished because of world community failure to enforce accountability.

Netanyahu exceeds Sharonian evil. He mocks democratic values, spurns rule of law principles, enforces apartheid viciousness, prioritizing pain and suffering for millions of defenseless Palestinians, Gazans most of all.

On Sunday, he threatened greater violence on Gaza than already, saying “Hamas hasn’t understood the message.”

“If they don’t stop the attacks they will be stopped in another way, which will be painful, very painful. We are very close to a different kind of activity that will include very powerful blows.”

Fact: Israel alone is responsible for violent attacks against peaceful Palestinian demonstrators posing no threat to its security.

Netanyahu lied claiming otherwise. His notion of “powerful blows” perhaps means a fourth Israeli war of aggression on the Strip in the past decade, maybe more devastating than earlier ones.

Mostly civilians are harmed when Israeli warplanes terror-bomb Gaza, entire families in targeted neighborhoods massacred in cold blood, women and young children treated as viciously as men.

Israeli war minister Avigdor Lieberman lied, falsely accusing of Hamas of violence, claiming it’s used as “a strategic weapon, through which they are hoping to erode our resilience. They are hoping to erode our deterrence,” adding:

“This situation is impossible. We have arrived at the moment when we have to deal the harshest blow possible on Hamas, but I assume the issue will go to the security cabinet and the security cabinet will have to decide.”

The US, NATO and Israel consistently blame others for their own high crimes.

Palestinians are longstanding victims of ruthless Israeli occupation. Resisting it is their fundamental right. Israel calls it “terrorism,” its own state-terrorism considered “self-defense.”

The Netanyahu regime blocked vitally needed Qatar-donated fuel to Gaza, Lieberman saying if demonstrations continue, it won’t be allowed in.

Maybe starving two million Gazans to death will be ordered next, along with terror-bombing communities, massacring civilians indiscriminately like earlier, blaming them for aggression committed against them.

A Final Comment

On April 17, 2012, Israel freed Palestinian political prisoner Khader Adnan. He endured 66 hunger-striking days for justice denied him, administratively detained uncharged and untried.

In 2015, he was lawlessly detained again uncharged and untried, hunger-striking for 55 days until released.

At any time, hundreds of other Palestinians are abused the same way, nearly 500 currently, imprisoned administratively for not being Jewish, along with thousand more on trumped up charges – for wanting their fundamental rights upheld, illegal occupation ended.

Last December, Adnan was again arrested and detailed on fabricated “incitement charges.”

Since September 2, he’s been hunger-striking for justice a third time, harshly mistreated like earlier – largely in solitary confinement without books, radio, newspapers, legal counsel, family visits, and most everything else.

In a letter somehow smuggled from prison to his wife, his health deteriorated badly, his mobility lost, he explained.

Palestinian human rights and prisoner support groups called on the ICRC to intervene for his release.

He remains brutally detained for wanting rights afforded Jews he’s denied.
