Netanyahu Promotes War on Iran
by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org – Home – Stephen Lendman)
Days ahead of Trump’s decision on whether to stick with the JCPOA nuclear deal or pull out, Ziofascist Netanyahu was at it again.
During his Sunday cabinet meeting, he lied accusing Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps of supplying “Syria with advanced weapons to attack us, both on the battlefield and on the home front, including attack drones, surface-to-surface missiles, and Iranian anti-aircraft systems that will threaten air force jets.”
Israel threatens their security, not the other way around – partnered with Washington, wanting regime change in both countries, waging naked aggression in Syria, Iran on their target list.
Netanyahu has been promoting war on the Islamic Republic for years, not daring to go it alone, wanting Washington to take the lead.
“Better now than later,” he roared, adding “we are prepared for any scenario.” If conflict erupts, it won’t be initiated by Iran. It’ll respond forcefully in self-defense if attacked.
Putin and Netanyahu are expected to meet days ahead of Trump’s May 12 deadline to decide up or down on the Iran nuclear deal.
Both leaders will discuss Syria and Tehran’s involvement in combating terrorism in the country Israel supports.
Netanyahu is concerned about Syria regaining control of its borders with Iraq and Jordan. The northern one is a separate issue with US and Turkish forces controlling much of this territory.
Israel is concerned about Syrian liberation foiling its regional objectives, wanting independent states replaced by pro-Western puppet ones – making it the dominant Middle East power along with America’s presence.
Netanyahu failed to get Putin to agree on keeping Iranian forces in Syria far removed from Israel’s border earlier, along with their removal once ISIS is defeated.
He’ll try again to get Putin to agree on what he’s consistently rejected so far.
Islamophobic Zionist zealot UN envoy Danny Danon is Israel’s Nikki Haley equivalent. In late April, he lied claiming “(t)here are over 80,000 extremists from all over the Middle East who are members of Shia militias in Syria under Iranian control.”
He showed fake images of a nonexistent Iranian base northwest of Damascus. Its military advisors operate from Syrian military facilities.
The only extremist fighters in the country are US-supported terrorists – along with the illegal presence of US, UK, French and Turkish forces.
In December 2015, Brazil under Dilma Roussef rejected Danon’s appointment as ambassador to the country because of his involvement with the extremist Yesha Council, promoting unlimited illegal settlement expansions.
Separately, ahead of Trump’s May 12 deadline on the JCPOA, London’s Observer said his aides “hired an Israeli private intelligence agency (last year) to orchestrate a ‘dirty ops’ campaign against key individuals from the Obama administration who helped negotiate the Iran nuclear deal.”
Obama’s deputy national security advisor Ben Rhodes was targeted. So was the president’s deputy assistant Colin Kahl, according to the Observer.
The scheme was an attempt to discredit individuals close to Obama, involved in helping to negotiate the JCPOA, to facilitate whatever decision Trump intends making about the deal later this week.
Dirty tricks aren’t new to Washington. They’ve been around throughout the republic’s existence.
John Adams, America’s second president, signed the repressive 1798 Alien and Sedition Acts into law restricting First Amendment freedoms, aiming to weaken Jefferson’s Democratic-Republican party.
He condemned what he called legislation against the right “to think freely and to speak and write what they think” – the laws repealed after he succeeded Adams as president.
Looking ahead under Trump, dismal US geopolitical and domestic policies are likely to worsen, not improve – including endless wars of aggression, maybe one or more new ones launched, along with continued neoliberal harshness harming most Americans to benefit the privileged few.
