Elizabeth Warren’s Phony Populist Crusade
by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org – Home – Stephen Lendman)
The senator from Massachusetts is a con man Bernie Sanders clone with a gender difference.
Both figures have 2020 presidential aspirations – why Warren introduced The Anti-Corruption and Public Integrity Act, a measure going nowhere, similar to Trump’s hollow swamp draining pledge.
Warren is a dubious figure. As Obama regime interim Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection (BCFP), she did nothing to oversee predatory banking practices responsibly, nothing to urge prosecution of Wall Street crooks.
She’s a consumer rights champion in name only, posing no threat to dirty business as usual.
She failed to criticize deplorable Obama regime policies. Its war on humanity at home and abroad didn’t bother her – nor protracted main street depression conditions, Obama’s police state apparatus, or US/NATO/Israeli wars of aggression.
During summer 2014 Operation Protective Edge, she supported Netanyahu regime terror-bombing of Gazan hospitals, schools, mosques and residential neighborhoods, along with UN shelters – preemptive naked aggression based on Big Lies.
She lied claiming “the last thing Israel wants” is civilian casualties. All Israeli regimes consider defenseless Palestinian men, women and children legitimate targets, flagrantly violating international law.
Warren defends the indefensible. Like other undemocratic Dems and Republicans, she considers naked aggression humanitarian intervention and democracy building.
Her so-called anti-corruption/public integrity act is all about self-promotion for high US office in 2020.
Its chance for enactment into law is zero. Its provisions include eliminating financial conflicts of interest – rife in both right wings of US governance, not about to change.
Its call to “close and lock the revolving door between industry and government” is dead on arrival.
Saying it wants an “end to lobbying as we know it” has no more chance of adoption than transforming America from a warrior state to a peace champion.
Buying and selling influence is deeply ingrained in the corrupt US culture. No legislative measure will change things.
“De-politiciz(ing) the rulemaking process and increas(ing) transparency of industry
efforts to influence federal agencies” never existed throughout US history.
Nor has “access to justice for all Americans,” enforcement of federal ethics, and political integrity.
Warren hopes to succeed Trump as president. Her legislative measure is perhaps the opening volley of her campaign – not a serious effort to change America’s political system too debauched to fix.
