Did CNN Hire James Clapper for Leaking Sensitive Information?

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.orgHome – Stephen Lendman)

Western media are as underhanded as dirty politicians and other public officials, notably in America.

A March House Intelligence Committee summary report, absolving Trump’s team of collusion with Russia during the 2016 presidential campaign, said former DNI chief James Clapper, an unindicted perjurer, leaked fabricated information in Christopher Steele’s doggy  dossier on Trump to CNN – material funded by the DNC and Hillary, rubbish used to try delegitimizing the president.

In January 2017, Clapper expressed “profound dismay at the leaks,” warning they were “extremely corrosive and damaging” to national security.

He’s now CNN’s national security analyst, hired last August. Was his hiring linked to the leaked information the network exploited extensively, winning an award for disinformation – only in America.

Was Clapper reporting for CNN while having access to classified material? Apparently so, using it for personal gain.

NBC News hired Obama’s CIA director John Brennan, publicly disdainful of Trump. Russiagate was a cooked up Brennan scheme to prevent his election and demonize the Kremlin.

Throughout his public life, Brennan represented the worst of imperial lawlessness. The same goes for Clapper, a former air force General, under secretary of defense for intelligence, and director of defense intelligence.

He, Brennan, and others are allied in a scheme to denigrate Trump for the wrong reasons.

Former Assistant FBI Director James Kallstrom blasted them for conspiring against a sitting president.

“Clapper was already in bed with CNN months before he was hired and while he was the DNI,” a US intelligence official explained, adding:

“It’s unbelievable that a senior official would leak this type of disinformation to destroy an incoming president. If it would have been anyone else, he’d be prosecuted.”

Clapper remains unaccountable for lying to Congress, a criminal offense even when not under oath.

On March 13, 2013, he was asked by US Select Committee on Intelligence Senator Ron Wyden if any NSA data was collected “on millions or hundreds of millions of Americas.”

“No sir, not willingly,” Clapper replied – willfully lying to Congress.

Clear evidence revealed by NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden explained Clapper’s lie. The NSA, CIA, FBI and other US intelligence agencies spy illegally on virtually anyone everywhere they wish to target, including tens of millions of unsuspecting Americans, violating their right Fourth Amendment rights.

Clapper was never threatened with prosecution. On March 12, the statute of limitations on his wrongdoing expired. His guilt went unpunished even though known by US authorities for years.

Discussing Clapper’s leak to CNN before hired as its national security analyst, Law Professor Jonathan Turley said his “disclosure advanced political, not public, interests,” adding:

He’s “accused of not only lying to the public but to the media for which he now works” – as well as to Congress, explained above.

Clapper leaked sensitive disinformation about Trump while retaining his high-level security clearance as DNI.

He lied claiming he only discussed it publicly after leaving government. At least, it’s unethical, at worst, criminal.

In America, ordinary people are prosecuted for wrongdoing, rarely ever any high-level public or private individuals. The exceptions prove the rule.
