Lunatic Ranting at the Security Council
US envoy Nikki Haley is a geopolitical pyromaniac, evident each time she addresses Security Council members.
On March 12 during a SC session on Syria, she recited her usual litany of Big Lies – bashing Russia, Syria and Iran irresponsibly, ignoring their involvement in combating US-supported terrorists, saying nothing about daily Pentagon-led terror-bombing massacring civilians.
Haley: Russia “did not keep (its) commitment…to stop the killing in Syria” – agreed on under SC Res. 2401.
False! Russia, Syria and allied forces fully observe the resolution – flagrantly violated by Washington, its imperial partners, Turkey, and US-supported terrorists.
Haley: Russian “bombs continue dropping on the children of eastern Ghouta. Today, we must ask whether Russia can no longer influence (Assad) to stop the horrific destruction of hospitals, medical clinics, and ambulances. To stop dropping chemical weapons on villages.”
Fact: Russian and Syrian bombs only strike US-supported terrorists. US-led coalition warplanes bear full responsibility for terror-bombing “ hospitals, medical clinics…ambulances” and other civilian targets.
Fact: US-supported terrorists alone used CWs numerous times, mainly against Syrian civilians. No evidence suggests government forces ever used banned toxic weapons throughout the conflict.
Haley: Is “Russia (a) tool of Assad? Or worse, Iran?”
The insolence of this remark warrants no response.
Haley: Russia “negotiated the wording of the ceasefire (in Syria) and…immediately disregarded it.”
A bald-face lie!
Haley: “There have been almost no deliveries of medicine and surgical equipment (to East Ghouta), because (Syrian forces) removed them from the UN’s humanitarian convoys.”
Fact: US-supported terrorists either blocked deliveries or stole what’s intended for civilians – liberated areas now beginning to receive humanitarian aid.
Haley: “Assad…Iran and Russia continu(e) to wage war against their political opponents.”
Fact: They’re waging war solely against US-supported terrorists.
Haley: Russia and Syria “label(ed) every opposition group in eastern Ghouta a ‘terrorist’ group. Why?”
Fact: Groups in East Ghouta holding defenseless civilians hostage as human shields are terrorists, not “rebels,” as falsely claimed.
Haley: “(T)he United States put all parties on notice that we needed to act if the ceasefire was not honored, and members of the Security Council agreed. And now that day has come.”
“The ceasefire has failed. The situation of the civilians in eastern Ghouta is dire. And the United States is acting. We have drafted a new ceasefire resolution that provides no room for evasion.”
“It is simple, straightforward, and binding. It will take effect immediately upon adoption by this Council. It contains no counterterrorism loopholes for Assad, Iran and the Russians to hide behind.”
Fact: The US draft resolution is an abomination, aiming to halt Syrian and Russian operations against US-supported terrorists in East Ghouta.
It represents a disgraceful attempt to keep countless thousands of civilians in the enclave kept captive, not liberated, what Syrian and Russian operations are committed to achieve.
Haley: “(T)he United States remains prepared to act if we must. It is not the path we prefer, but it is a path we have demonstrated we will take, and we are prepared to take it again.”
Russia warned it won’t tolerate an attack on Syrian forces endangering its personnel in the country.
Sergey Lavrov commented sharply, saying “(i)f a new (US) strike…takes place (against Syrian forces), the consequences will be very serious.”
The ball is in Washington’s court. Is it willing to risk confrontation with Russia by escalating aggression in Syria? The stakes are huge.
