WaPo Trump/Putin Revelations?

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org - Home - Stephen Lendman)

I titled a long-ago article Paid Lying: What Passes for Major Media Journalism, explaining what I’ve discussed many times since then.

The deplorable state of America’s media is a national disgrace - featuring propaganda, vital information on domestic and geopolitical issues suppressed.

Fiction substitutes for truth and full disclosure. A free and open society is threatened. Mainstream news, information and analysis is carefully controlled, dissent marginalized.

Paid liars serve powerful interests, operating as “prostitutes of the press,” what famed journalist George Seldes called establishment fourth estate members long ago.

Imperial wars are called liberating ones, along with humanitarian intervention, responsibility to protect, and democracy building - notions Republicans and undemocratic Dems abhor.

Civil liberties are suppressed for our own good. America is beautiful in name only, polar opposite reality. Beneficial social change is considered heresy, neoliberal harshness supported by both right wings of duopoly governance.

Patriotism is all about supporting what demands condemnation. Whatever government does, business does better, so let it, shop till we drop a national mantra.

“A penny save is a penny earned,” a quote attributed to Benjamin Franklin, is a way of life contrary to consumerism, the national pastime, pushed by business and pols.

America’s major media support privileged interests exclusively, imperial wars for dominance over other nations, and business over the general welfare.

Daily events should scare everyone. Democracy is America’s deadliest export, its war machine on auto pilot, how the late William Blum described America’s deplorable state.

Criminality in high places is rewarded, not punished. War is considered peace. Warmakers win peace prizes, peace advocates shunned. So are social democrats. Republicans and undemocratic Dems threaten everyone.

The neocon/CIA-connected Washington Post is part of a sinister cabal, aiming to delegitimize and remove Trump from office - for the wrong reasons, not the right ones, his predecessors as culpable as he is on issues never mentioned.

According to WaPo, things reported about Trump and Putin “we knew all along.” Here’s what the CIA house organ finds troublesome.

Trump “lavished praise on the Russian leader, in many forms of media, since at least 2013…”

I and many others praise his support for world peace, cooperation with other nations over confrontation, and other policies deserving merit - polar oppose how the US, NATO, Israel, and their imperial partners operate.

WaPo: Trump once tweeted that “Putin might become his ‘new best friend.’ ” Getting along with him and Russia should be welcomed by America’s fourth estate, not condemned, furthering world peace over possible global war.

WaPo: DLT’s “business relationships with Russia and Russians go back even further…”

He’s a longtime businessman turned politician. There’s nothing illegal about business dealings anywhere in the world as long as rule of law principles are obeyed.

WaPo: “Kremlin state media…openly promot(ed) his political views since at least 2014, when Trump gave an interview to Fox News extravagantly praising the Sochi Winter Olympics.”

The event was a tour de force success, warranting high praise. US media covered it otherwise. Everything was built from scratch, an extraordinary achievement in record time. The games went off without a hitch.

WaPo criticized Trump’s first campaign manager Paul Manafort. His offenses were unrelated to DLT’s campaign or Russia. America’s establishment media pretended otherwise.

WaPo: “Trump openly called for Russia to hack Hillary Clinton’s email” - a throwaway line on the stump. Lots of campaign rhetoric is all about providing red meat for the base of candidates.

WaPo: “He openly echoed the Russian state media’s slogans and conspiratorial language all the way through the latter part of his campaign, claiming, for instance, that President Barack Obama created the Islamic State terrorists and that Hillary Clinton would start World War III.”

My readers understand US responsibility for creating ISIS and likeminded terrorist groups. I and others expressed genuine fears about militantly Russophobic Hillary waging nuclear war. There’s nothing conspiratorial about these deadly issues.

WaPo: “…Russia backed (Trump) with a sophisticated online campaign designed to inspire his voters and put others off from voting at all” - a bald-faced Big Lie, not a shred of credible evidence supporting it, plenty of evidence debunking it.

WaPo: Trump “shared US secrets with the Russian foreign minister in the Oval Office, appeared cowed by the Russian president at a Helsinki news conference, if not frightened of him, and repeatedly sought to meet Putin without officials present or even, at one point, his own translator” - more bald-faced Big Lies and gross exaggerations.

According to WaPo, the FBI should have investigated alleged Trump ties to Russia 30 years ago, calling his “relationship with (the country) perverse and peculiar. We can all see that…”

There’s nothing improper or illegal about relations with anyone as long as rule of law principles are observed. WaPo suggested nothing otherwise, but claims Trump “doesn’t want anyone to learn anything more about” his relationship with Russia.

No responsible editors would touch the above rubbish. WaPo editors featured it.

What America needs now is normal relations with Russia, China, Iran, Venezuela, Syria, and all other nations, essential in the interest of world peace and stability.

Republicans, Dems, and major media oppose what’s vital to pursue, Trump co-opted to go along with the dirty system like his predecessors.

That’s what deserves criticism, not WaPo’s checklist of Big Lies, deception, and gross exaggeration discussed above.
