Trump Regime Closing PLO Mission in Washington

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org - Home - Stephen Lendman)

In cahoots with Ziofascist Israel, supporting its apartheid viciousness, Trump regime hardliners are waging war on Palestinians by other means.

All US humanitarian aid was ended, including for millions of Palestinian refugees.

According to PLO secretary general Saeb Erekat, “(w)e have been informed by a US official about their decision to close the Palestinian mission in the United States,” adding:

“This is a dangerous escalation which demonstrates the United States’ readiness to dismantle the international system in order to defend Israeli crimes, and attacks on the Palestinian land and people, attacks on peace and security across the region.”

“We reaffirm that the rights of the Palestinians cannot be sold. We will not give in to threats and intimidation by the United States. We will continue our legitimate fight for freedom, justice and independence with the use of all possible political and legal means.”

Neocon extremist John Bolton is expected to announce closure today - continuing Trump regime harshness in cahoots with Israel to force Palestinians to surrender to their unacceptable demands, abandoning all hope for self-determination, East Jerusalem as their exclusive capital, the right of diaspora Palestinians to return home, and other fundamental rights.

PLO executive committee member Hanan Ashwari slammed the Trump regime’s diabolical agenda, saying “Palestinians will not surrender” to unacceptable demands, adding:

“(N)o amount of coercion or unwarranted collective punitive measures will bring the Palestinian leadership or people to their knees.”

The US “is punishing the PLO, the national representative of the Palestinian people and the highest political body that made the commitment to reaching a political and legal settlement of the Palestinian question and that has engaged in negotiations with successive US administrations for decades.”

“It is also extremely cruel and spiteful to persist in deliberately bashing the Palestinian people by denying them of their rights, giving away their lands and rightful capital of Jerusalem, and defunding UNRWA and Palestinian institutions, including East Jerusalem hospitals.”

“Such irresponsible moves are clear proof of American collusion with Israel’s occupation and the rewards, inducements and incentives it provides Israel, as well as a total ignorance of the requirements of a just peace based on international law and respect for human rights.”

In prepared remarks to be delivered later on Monday, John Bolton is expected to say Washington “will always stand with our friend and ally, Israel” - ignoring partnership between both countries in their wars of aggression and other high crimes.

He’ll also threaten the International Criminal Court (a notorious imperial tool) with sanctions and other harsh measures if it dares undertaking investigations of US and Israeli war criminals, adding:

“We will do the same for any company or state that assists an ICC investigation of Americans” and Israelis.

“We will not cooperate with the ICC. We will provide no assistance to the ICC. We will not join the ICC. We will let the ICC die on its own. After all, for all intents and purposes, the ICC is already dead to us” - his draft remarks seen by the Wall Street Journal and Reuters.

A Final Comment

The Netanyahu regime banned redoubtable 17-year old champion of Palestinian rights Ahed Tamimi and her family from traveling abroad, according to her father Bassem.

He, his wife Nariman, and Ahed planned to travel to Europe via Jordan last Friday - to participate in events and discussion of Palestinian nonviolent freedom fighting resistance.

Interviewed by Iran’s Press TV, Bassem said Israel denied them the right to leave Occupied Palestine to prevent anything Ahed might say or do to try foiling the Netanyahu regime’s “schemes for the disintegration of the region by forging close relations with the enemies of Israel.”

In 2012, Istanbul’s Basaksehir Municipality honored Ahed, then at age-12, with its Hanzala Courage Award for courageously confronting Israeli soldiers after they unlawfully and brutally arrested her brother.
