Scoundrel Media Hysteria Over Follow-Up Putin/Trump Summit

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org - Home - Stephen Lendman)

The NYT accused Trump of “blindsiding” his national intelligence director Dan Coats, calling his intention to invite Putin to Washington “stunning.”

The self-styled newspaper of record disgracefully claimed he’s being “manipulated by Putin.”

The neocon CIA house organ Washington Post is outraged over Trump intended follow-up summit talks with Putin in Washington.

Bolton extended the invitation, discussions underway for a fall DC summit on a date yet to be announced.

WaPo called the news “the latest unexpected turn in a week in which Trump has faced a torrent of bipartisan criticism over his cozy approach to Putin and his vacillating utterances about Moscow’s election interference, all while brushing aside warnings that the Russian leader should be viewed as an adversary.”

CNN asked: “Why on earth would Trump invite Putin back for more?”

US print, cable and broadcast media are in an uproar over Trump wanting another summit with Putin after Helsinki.

ABC News said he “drew sharp bipartisan criticism for not publicly confronting Putin about Russian interference in the 2016 election during their press conference, and for casting doubt on the conclusion of the US intelligence community that Putin had ordered it.”

Other US media made similar comments, saying as well Trump remains unbowed by criticism over Helsinki summit talks with Putin, along with delivering mixed messages about Russian US electoral process interference - not a shred of evidence suggesting it occurred.

Ahead of July 16 summit talks, Hillary tweeted: “Question for President Trump as he meets Putin: Do you know which team you play for?”

Following talks, she added: “Now we know.” CNN applauded her disgraceful remarks, saying she “was exactly right about Trump being Putin’s puppet.”

On Thursday, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said he directed the Senate Banking and Foreign Relations committees to consider legislation, imposing new sanctions on Russia.

Senate Minority leader Chuck Schumer blasted Trump’s summit talks with Putin, adding “(u)ntil we know what happened at that two hour meeting in Helsinki, the president should have no more one-on-one interactions with Putin in the US, in Russia, or anywhere else.”

Undemocratic Dem House members called for increased security spending in response to Trump getting along with Putin - shameful.

House Republicans blocked Dem efforts to subpoena the interpreter who translated for Trump in Helsinki for questioning - suggesting both leaders may have struck unacceptable secret deals during talks.

Mike Pompeo blasted what he called “bad (Russian) behavior,” adding “(w)e inherited a situation where Russia was running all over the United States” - disgraceful remarks, polar opposite the truth.

Addressing Russian diplomats in Moscow, Putin said “forces in America are trying to belittle and disavow the results of the Helsinki meeting.”

“We see that there are forces in the United States ready to sacrifice Russian-American relations for their own domestic political ambitions.”

Putin stressed the importance of having “a positive agenda aimed at working together (with Trump) to find common ground.”

“We have talked about this (in Helsinki). Even with all the difference in views, we agreed that Russian-American relations are in an extremely unsatisfactory state, in many respects even worse than during the Cold War.”

Dark forces in Washington want they remaining this way - needing a mythical Russian enemy to justify US war on humanity at home and abroad.

Putin wants “partnership, mutually beneficial, and constructive relations with all countries and regional associations.”

Longstanding US policy seeks dominance over all other nations, control of their resources, and exploitation of their populations - an agenda for endless wars of aggression, opposing peace and stability.
