Russia Behind Yellow Vest Protests in France?

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org - Home - Stephen Lendman)

Suggesting it is an absurdity on its face - the latest Big Lie about the Russian Federation, for sure many more to come - what Russia bashing is all about. When nothing justifies it, things are made up.

Moscow is accused by the US, UK, and other Western countries of all sorts of things without a shred of supporting evidence. Accusations and allegations without it are baseless.

Nothing suggests the Kremlin is behind or in any way involved in weeks of Yellow Vest protests in France.

They’re entirely homegrown against neoliberal harshness. Everywhere throughout the West, ordinary people struggle to get by, conditions worsening not improving - while rich and powerful interests thrive at the expense of people they exploit.

Like his Western counterparts, French President Macron is at war on social justice. The former Rothschild banker/economy minister is hostile to what liberte, egalite and fraternite for everyone is supposed to be all about.

Hubris and arrogance define him, along with his mean-spirited/anti-populist neoliberal agenda, why he’s widely reviled.

Earlier protests in Iran, Syria, Russia, Venezuela, Nicaragua, Armenia, Serbia, Ukraine, Georgia, Egypt, Tunisia, Myanmar, Tibet, Kyrgyzstan, Czechoslovakia, and elsewhere were made in the USA by the CIA, undemocratic National Endowment for Democracy, USAID, the State Department, and other US dark forces.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov called phony claims about Russia’s “alleged involvement (in French Yellow Vest protests) nothing but slander,” adding:

“Russia considers these developments to be France’s domestic affair. We have never interfered in the domestic affairs of other countries, including France…”

Not a shred of credible evidence suggests otherwise. Russophobic accusations and allegations are Big Lies - common practice by the West when it comes to Russia and other US adversaries.

Scurrilous media reports falsely alleged Russian involvement in what’s gone on for weeks. The Times of London claimed “(h)undreds of social media accounts linked to Russia have sought to amplify the street protests that have rocked France, according to analysis” the broadsheet claimed to see, adding:

“(A)bout 200 monitored account (are) churning out approximately 1,600 tweets and retweets a day.” The broadsheet provided no evidence linking them to Russian authorities because none exists.

Not a shred of evidence backed numerous accusations against Russia in recent years, all of it made up. Alleging Kremlin involvement in Yellow Vest protests is as groundless as all other phony claims.

Bloomberg News reported the Big Lie, claiming hundreds of Twitter accounts “known to promote Kremlin views (feature the) hashtag now is #giletsjaunes (yellow vests).”

Its source is the Russophobic Alliance for Securing Democracy (ASD) think tank. Its advisory council includes a rogue’s gallery of neocon extremists - including Michael Chertoff, Bill Kristol, Michael McFaul, Michael Morell, John Podesta, and Adm. James Stavridis (Ret.) among others.

ASD’s Bret Schafer was quoted, saying there’s “a pretty strong indication that there is interest in amplifying the conflict” for audiences outside France, adding:

What’s going on resembles other Western-bashing Kremlin campaigns that don’t exist. Many Russophobic campaigns are initiated by the US, UK, and other Western countries, not the other way around.

Sputnik News, RT, and Ruptly TV (owned and operated by RT) were falsely accused of involvement in Yellow Vest protests because they actively report on what’s going on accurately - what responsible journalism is all about, falsely called propaganda by the West.

The US-installed Kiev regime falsely blamed Russia, saying “(b)ehind the back of peaceful protesters, they resort to the organization of riots and acts of violence in France,” adding:

“SBU (Ukraine’s Gestapo) has information that Russian intelligence services have to organize similar provocations in Belgium, Germany, Spain, Bulgaria and other European countries.”

SBU head Vasyl Hrytsak turned truth on its head, saying the “Kremlin uses dirty methods to destroy European stability, which it sees as a threat. In recent years, Moscow has been relentlessly trying to take control of European radical social and political structures.”

Russian upper house Federation Council Senator Aleksey Pushkov slammed the above rubbish, saying “(i)f you tried to explain to the Gilets Jaunes on the Champs Elysee that they were being organized by the Russian security services, you would at best get your face kicked in.”

“You don’t hear that sort of nonsense outside of Kiev” along with similar rubbish by the US and UK, partnering in each other’s high crimes. Whatever happens anywhere is Russia’s fault - why it’s long past time for Moscow to push back with toughness.

Failing to respond strongly to hostile actions by the US, UK, and other countries shows weakness, not strength.

No nations should let others abuse them without pushing back in kind, what Moscow fails to do appropriately, harming its own interests.
