Promoting War in Syria, Deploring Peace

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org - Home - Stephen Lendman)

Is Trump’s apparent intention to hit Syrian forces and military facilities hard the last gasp of a failed effort to topple its legitimate government?

Russia’s intervention turned the tide of battle, foiling Washington’s imperial project. Attacking Syria’s military won’t likely turn US defeat into victory - short of all-out war attempting to achieve what seven years of aggression failed to do.

Still, much hinges on what plays out in the days and weeks ahead. Washington is good at smashing everything it targets.

Syria is like a resilient boxer, taking its adversary’s best shots, refusing to go down, hitting back hard, backed by Russian airpower, a potent ally in its struggle to liberate the country entirely from US-supported terrorists and America’s illegal presence.

Obama launched naked aggression on Syria in March 2011, a sovereign independent nation threatening no one.

Endless war continues, no end of it in sight, supported by Western media scoundrels, blaming victimized Syria for high crimes committed against the country.

The fake Douma CW incident represents Washington’s latest attempt to escalate aggression more than already.

The deplorable NYT supports the fake news about Douma, cheerleading for more war and carnage, headlining “In a Syrian Town, People Started Shouting: ‘Chemicals! Chemicals!,’ “ saying:

“The attack in the Syrian town of Douma on Saturday, which witnesses and medical workers said used chemical weapons, has resonated far beyond the war-scarred community’s destroyed buildings, ratcheting up tensions among world powers and threatening to escalate Syria’s multi-sided civil war.”

Fact: No attack occurred. The only shouting about chemicals is from US-supported/al-Qaeda-connected White Helmet terrorists, masquerading as civil defense workers.

Fact: There’s nothing “civil” about US-launched naked aggression, using ISIS and other terrorists as imperial foot soldiers, supported by terror-bombing, massacring civilians, destroying vital infrastructure, responsible for likely over a million (largely civilian) deaths so far, more casualties mounting daily, likely many more to come.

The Times: “President Trump has vowed to punish not only President Bashar al-Assad of Syria for the attack, but also Syria’s Russian and Iranian allies.”

Fact: Trump is geopolitically ignorant. He has no idea about the possible consequences of his recklessness - influenced and controlled by hawkish neocon lunatics.

The State Department lied, saying reported symptoms in Douma were “consistent with an asphyxiation agent and of a nerve agent of some type.”

No symptoms were reported, no one affected by toxic substances, no one hospitalized or killed from any.

The Times is a lying machine, falsely claiming “pro-government forces dropped charges bearing some kind of chemical compound that suffocated at least 43 people and left many more struggling to breathe.”

Syrian forces liberated East Ghouta, including Douma, using conventional weapons, no others. Claims otherwise are bald-faced lies, the Times guilty for willfully turning truth on its head.

The neocon/CIA house organ Washington Post featured a fake news report by Jasmine El-Gamal, a senior fellow at the hawkish Russophobic Atlantic Council, headlining “Chemical weapons aren’t Assad’s only atrocity. We need new ‘red lines,’ “ saying:

“…Assad has once again violated a string of UN Security Council resolutions and warnings regarding his use of chemical weapons. Casualty figures range from 40 to 70 killed and hundreds to thousands injured.”

“An effective US response this time should take into account the overall brutality with which the Syrian president has conducted this war - including the use of chemical weapons but also other atrocities that the world has up until now shrugged off.”

The above accusations are bald-faced lied. Countless atrocities indeed were committed throughout years of war, including use of CWs.

In all cases, US-supported terrorists and Pentagon-led terror-bombing were and remain responsible.

The Times, WaPo, and other media scoundrels blame victims in all US wars of aggression for high crimes committed against them.
