Obama and Trump Regimes’ Aggression Against Syrian Forces

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org - Home - Stephen Lendman)

By its own admission, Israel attacked Syrian targets scores of times since early 2017 alone, numerous times earlier - part of its undeclared war on the country.

US forces attacked Syrian army positions a number of times since the Obama regime launched aggression in March 2011.

In September 2016, US-led warplanes killed over 100 Syrian troops, wounding scores of others near Deir Ezzor’s airport. A Pentagon statement lied claiming ISIS forces were attacked, failing to admit the US supports the scourge it claims to oppose.

In April 2017, US warplanes terror-bombed Syria’s Shayrat airbase, following a false flag Khan Shaykhun CW incident, wrongfully blamed on Damascus - what government forces had nothing to do with, nor any other CW attacks throughout years of war.

In May 2017, US warplanes struck Syrian military positions in eastern Homs province, killing at least eight soldiers.

On June 6, 2017, US terror-bombing killed and wounded Syrian soldiers in eastern Homs again, along with destroying military equipment.

On June 8, 2017, a US warplane downed a Syrian drone. Another Pentagon warplane struck government military positions on the ground, both incidents in Homs.

On June 18, 2017, one or more US warplanes downed a Syrian SU-22 involved in combatting US-supported ISIS terrorists.

On June 20, 2017, another Pentagon-staged Syrian drone downing incident occurred.

On February 7, 2018, US, UK, and French warplanes attacked government forces in central Deir Ezzor province, killing over 100, wounding hundreds more.

On February 10, 2018, a US attack drone struck government forces in central Deir Ezzor.

On April 14, 2018, US, UK and French warplanes struck multiple government targets following the false flag Douma CW incident, wrongfully blamed on Damascus.

On April 29, 2018, US warplanes attacked Syrian forces near Deir Ezzor city.

According to a Syrian military source, the latest Trump regime-led aggression against government forces occurred on Sunday, attacking their positions south of Al-Sukhnah in eastern Syria, saying:

“At 8:00 PM, the US-led coalition launched several rockets at some of our positions in the al-Ghurab mount south of the town of al-Sukhnah causing material loses only.”

Syria’s 21 Brigade was struck by US-led rocket fire, launched from the Pentagon’s illegally established al-Tanf base in southern Syria, near the Iraqi and Jordanian borders.

US-led warplanes repeatedly massacred Syrian civilians since terror-bombing began in September 2014 - along with US support for ISIS and other jihadists throughout the war.

Washington’s claim about over 70 countries comprising its anti-Syria “coalition” is fabricated. Pentagon warplanes conduct the vast majority of terror-bombing attacks, joined at times by Britain and France.

Together they conduct nearly all strikes on Syrian targets, mostly against vital infrastructure, massacring tens of thousands of civilians, along with smaller numbers of government forces.

Obama’s war on Syria, escalated by Trump, is flagrantly illegal like all other US post-WW II conflicts.

Washington, NATO, Israel, the Saudis, and their imperial partners are guilty of naked aggression, the highest of high crimes as defined by seven Nuremberg Principles, notably Principle VI as follows:

“(a) Crimes against peace and humanity:

(i) Planning, preparation, initiation or a plan of a war of aggression or a war in violation of international treaties, agreements or assurances;

(ii) Participation in a common plan or conspiracy for the accomplishment of any of the acts mentioned under (i).

(b) War crimes:

Violations of the laws or customs of war which include, but are not limited to, murder, ill-treatment or deportation to slave labor or for any other purpose of civilian population of or in occupied territory; murder or ill-treatment of prisoners of war or persons on the Seas, killing of hostages, plunder of public or private property, wanton destruction of cities, towns, or villages, or devastation not justified by military necessity.

(c) Crimes against humanity:

Murder, extermination, enslavement, deportation and other inhumane acts done against any civilian population, or persecutions on political, racial, or religious grounds, when such acts are done or such persecutions are carried on in execution of or in connection with any crime against peace or any war crime.”

In its numerous post-WW II wars of aggression, the US is flagrantly guilty of virtually all of the above high crimes - yet remains unaccountable because of world community inaction and complicity.
