NYT Russophobia Rears Its Ugly Head Again

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org - Home - Stephen Lendman)

Like other media scoundrels, the Times never misses an opportunity to miss an opportunity to deliver journalism the way it’s supposed to be to readers - especially on geopolitical issues, notably anything on Russia.

Its editors wrongfully called Oleg Sentsov a political prisoner in Russia, justifiably sentenced to 20 years imprisonment.

He’s on hunger strike, “demand(ing) the release of about 70 Ukrainian” prisoners he disgracefully called “political.” He unacceptably wants absolution for his own high crimes - seeking release to commit more of the same no doubt.

His “case has raised an international outcry. Prominent film directors, Russian and international, declared their support for Mr. Sentsov,” roared the Times, siding with a felon complicit in murder, adding:

“(T)he European Union called the case a ‘breach of international law and elementary standards of justice.’ On Thursday, the European Parliament passed a resolution demanding the immediate release of Mr. Sentsov and the other Ukrainian prisoners.”

“The State Department has also spoken out on behalf of Mr. Sentsov.” Unjustifiable Russia bashing persists in America, Canada, Britain, and other EU countries.

Evidence supporting accusations is absent proving they’re baseless - about Ukraine, election meddling, the Skripal incident, and many other issues.

Sentsov and other Ukrainian prisoners are criminals, why they’re behind bars, nothing political about putting them there.

Russian courts found them guilty of involvement in a conspiracy to commit terrorism in Crimea. Sentsov’s accomplice Alexander Kolchenko got 10 years.

Besides their involvement in a conspiracy to murder Russian journalists and civilians, evidence proved them guilty of involvement in terrorism - in spring 2014, planning a scheme to set offices in Simferopol ablaze, along with intending to blow up a statue of Vladimir Lenin, as well as destroying or damaging other Crimean facilities.

At the time, Sputnik News said Sentsov also “was charged with illegal acquisition, sale and possession of weapons under Russia’s Criminal Code.”

Nadezhda Savchenko was sentenced to longterm imprisonment - 22 years for involvement in Crimea terrorist acts.

He was linked to the Donbass killing of two Russian journalists and other civilians in Donbass.

According to Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Human Rights head Konstantin Dolgov, Sentsov, Savchenko, and others were clearly guilty of serious crimes they were accused of, adding:

Russian nationals are wrongfully imprisoned in America based on “unproven allegations of criminal ‘intentions.’ “

Washington falsely blamed Moscow for high crimes of war, against humanity, and related criminality in Donbass - committed by Ukrainian ultra-nationalist thugs, enlisted by the US-installed Poroshenko regime - including Sentzov, Savchenko, and many others, some imprisoned, others at large, new elements recruited to commit criminal acts in Crimea and elsewhere.

Dolgov said “(e)veryone knows that the humanitarian and human rights catastrophe in Ukraine is a product of Ukrainian authorities controlled by the US and nationalistic radical groups acting after the anti-constitutional coup in Kiev.”

“The US authorities should take off the glasses blurred by anti-Russian stereotypes and put an end to mudslinging about the true state of affairs in Russia, addressing the distressful situation with human rights in the US,” client states like Ukraine, Israel, and its other rogue allies.

Ukraine’s Donbass region is “balancing on the verge of interference into internal affairs of Russia.”

Illegitimate putschists in Kiev long ago crossed the line, the Poroshenko regime serving as a toothless US imperial bullyboy, the NYT and other Western media inventing reasons to bash Moscow and Vladimir Putin unjustifiably.

The Times is an embarrassment to legitimate journalism, truth-telling on issues mattering most too often banished from its reports.

“…Sentsov…and the truth he proclaims deserve the full support of the West,” the broadsheet roared.

Cold hard truths the Times suppressed proved his connection to anti-Russia terrorism, including murder and other criminal acts - not a word from the self-styled newspaper about it.
