John Bolton’s Dissocial Personality Disorder

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org - Home - Stephen Lendman)

Bolton’s appointment as Trump’s national security advisor threatens world peace.

His callous contempt for humanity, rage for endless wars, pathological immorality, and other abnormalities define the menace he represents.

In 2017, he said the only way to address Pyongyang’s nuclear program is “to end (its) regime” by striking first, adding:

“Anybody who thinks that more diplomacy with North Korea, more sanctions, whether against North Korea or an effort to apply sanctions against China, is just giving North Korea more time to increase its nuclear arsenal.”

“We have fooled around with North Korea for 25 years, and fooling around some more is just going to make matters worse.”

Pathologically hostile to Iran, he once said the Islamic Republic would be eliminated by end of 2018. He earlier said US policy should “unequivocally” aim to “overthrow” the Iranian government.

Following his appointment as national security advisor, he asked to Pentagon to prepare military options for terror-bombing  the Islamic Republic. US plans to attack the country were drawn and updated before.

Last July, Bolton said “Trump told me that if Iran does anything at all to the negative, they will pay a price like few countries have ever paid before.”

One observer earlier said Bolton “never met a country he didn’t want to destroy. A sharp critic said “(h)e’s never seen a foreign policy problem that couldn’t be solved by bombing.”

In a 2015 NYT op-ed, he headlined: “To Stop Iran’s Bomb, Bomb Iran,” turning truth on its head saying “Iran’s steady progress toward nuclear weapons has long been evident,” adding:

“The inescapable conclusion is that Iran will not negotiate away its nuclear program. Nor will sanctions block its building a broad and deep weapons infrastructure.”

“The inconvenient truth is that only military action like Israel’s 1981 attack on Saddam Hussein’s Osirak reactor in Iraq or its 2007 destruction of a Syrian reactor, designed and built by North Korea, can accomplish what is required.”

Iran abhors nuclear weapons, wanting them eliminated everywhere. Its legitimate nuclear program has no military component - confirmed time and again by the IAEA nuclear watchdog.

Contemptuous of Iran’s 40th anniversary, commemorating its 1979 revolution, ending a generation of US imposed tyranny, Bolton threatened its leadership, saying the following by video message posted on the White House website:

“Ayatollah Khamenei, for all your boasts (sic), for all your threats to the life of the American president (sic), you are responsible for terrorizing your own people and the world as a whole (sic). I don’t think you’ll have many more anniversaries to enjoy.”

His remarks were a veiled threat of US aggression he supports. It came at the same time Netanyahu warned Iran that “if (it) tries to destroy Tel Aviv or Haifa, it won’t be successful, and it will be the last anniversary of their revolution they will ever celebrate.”

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif explained that 40 years of US plots against the Islamic Republic failed, adding:

“It is necessary for all those friends who are pursuing Iran’s foreign policy to realize that we owe everything to these people.”

“Our attitude towards security is based on domestic development and progress, and the more they exert pressure on us, the more…the nation will be united and steadfast against foreign threats.”

He slammed Bolton’s hostile remarks, reminding Iranians of his earlier boast about the Islamic Republic’s demise before reaching “its 40th birthday.”

Separately, Zarif tweeted: “#40YearsofFailure to accept that Iranians will never return to submission. #40YearsofFailure to adjust US policy to reality. #40YearsofFailure to destabilize Iran through blood & treasure.”

“After 40 yrs of wrong choices, time for @realDonaldTrump to rethink failed US policy.”

Speaking Monday on the Islamic Republic’s 40th anniversary, President Hassan Rouhani said “the enemy will never succeed and the revolution will continue on the same path as in the past 40 years. We will not let America succeed.”

In 2017, Bolton was paid $40,000 to address the terrorist MKO group in Paris - at the time saying “before 2019, we here will celebrate in Tehran.”

The US directly supports the group responsible for killing thousands of Iranians since its September 1965 founding.

In 2012, the Obama regime, at Hillary’s urging, delisted the group as a designated sponsor of terrorism.

Allied with US aims for regime change in Iran, it’s no longer blacklisted, despite its responsibility for assassinating US and European nationals over the last half century.

Washington under Republicans and undemocratic Dems is the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism - all sovereign independent governments on its target list for elimination.

The US, not Iran, is the world’s “central banker for international terrorism.” Bolton’s Big Lie claimed otherwise.

Further debunking his deception, the US intelligence community (including the DNI, CIA, NSA and FBI) in January said “Iran is not currently undertaking the key nuclear weapons-development activities we judge necessary to produce a nuclear device.”

National Iranian American Council policy director Ryan Costello slammed Bolton’s remarks, saying his “claim that Iran continues to seek nuclear weapons is another bald-face lie,” adding:

“He clearly wants a war before Trump leaves office and shouldn’t be underestimated.” So does Pompeo, his latest threat coming in January, saying:

“The United States will not stand by and watch (Iran’s) destructive policies (sic) place international stability and security at risk.”

He, Bolton, and other US hardliners on both sides of the aisle demand Iran cease its legitimate ballistic and cruise missile development programs.

Their aim is similar to what they have in mind for North Korea, wanting the defensive capabilities of both countries weakened, leaving them vulnerable to US aggression.

According to Iran’s Deputy Defense Minister for International Affairs Mohammad Ahadi, “(i)ncreasing ballistic and cruise missile capacity…and the acquisition of next-generation fighters and heavy and long-range vessels and submarines with various weapons capabilities are among the new plans of this ministry.”

Unlike US-dominated NATO and Israel, Iran’s military development is solely for defense. It hasn’t attacked another country preemptively in centuries - one of many inconvenient facts Bolton, Pompeo, and other US hardliners ignore.
