The FBI Interfered in America’s Political Process - Not Russia

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org - Home - Stephen Lendman)

Months of congressional and media huffing and puffing since last year about alleged Russian meddling in America’s 2016 presidential election was smoke and mirrors deception.

A Wall Street Journal editorial titled “The FBI’s Trump Insurance” provided evidence, showing FBI interference in the election. No evidence suggests Russian meddling, as falsely claimed.

FBI agents duplicitously claiming Russian interference doctored evidence to fit bureau policy.

The WSJ: Evidence is building (to show) some officials at the FBI - who have worked for (special council Mueller) - may have interfered in an American presidential election.”

“Congress needs to insist on its rights as a co-equal branch of government to discover the truth.”

In late November, Judicial Watch filed an FOIA lawsuit against the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) to obtain thus far suppressed unclassified documents, alleging Russian interference in last year’s presidential election.

Congressional members haven’t received what they asked for, House Intelligence Committee member Mike Turner, saying:

“The fact that the administration is picking and choosing the information it releases and who they release it to ought to give everybody concern that the administration is manipulating this.”

Judicial Watch is also suing the FBI for records about removal of former deputy assistant director Peter Strzok from special counsel Mueller’s investigation, saying:

“Strzok was reportedly removed from the Mueller investigative team in August and reassigned to a human resources position after it was discovered that he and another FBI lawyer, Lisa Page, who worked for FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe and with whom Strzok was carrying on an extramarital affair, ‘exchanged text messages during the Clinton investigation and campaign season in which they expressed anti-Trump sentiments and other comments that appeared to favor Clinton.’ “

Strzok changed the FBI’s language about her illicit email server from “grossly negligent” to “extremely careless,” an attempt to whitewash her criminality.

FBI stonewalling Judicial Watch’s request for months prompted its president Tom Fitton to say the following:

“One can only conclude the FBI and Justice Department (including Mr. Mueller’s operation) wanted to hide the truth about how Strzok’s and Page’s political biases and misconduct have compromised both the Clinton email and Russia collusion investigations.”

WSJ editors criticized what’s going on, saying “Democrats and the media are accusing anyone who criticizes special counsel Robert Mueller as Trumpian conspirators, trying to undermine his probe.”

“But who needs critics when Mr. Mueller’s team is doing so much to undermine its own credibility?”

“Wednesday’s revelations - they’re coming almost daily -include the Justice Department’s release of 2016 text messages to and from Peter Strzok, the FBI counterintelligence agent whom Mr. Mueller demoted this summer.”

“The texts, which he exchanged with senior FBI lawyer Lisa Page, contain expletive-laced tirades against Mr. Trump. Such Trump hatred is no surprise and not by itself disqualifying.”

“More troubling are texts that suggest that some FBI officials may have gone beyond antipathy to anti-Trump plotting.”

On August 15, 2016, Strzok wrote Page the following:

“I want to believe the path you threw out for consideration in (deputy FBI director) Andy’s office - that there’s no way (Trump) gets elected - but I’m afraid we can’t take that risk. It’s like an insurance policy in the unlikely event you die before you’re 40.”

He apparently meant assuring that Hillary, not Trump, be elected - calling Trump a “menace” in another exchange with Page.

Russiagate and Trump bashing for the wrong reasons, not plenty of justifiable ones, provides more evidence of a diabolical scheme to stoke conflict with Moscow, along with denigrating Trump for defeating media darling Hillary.
