Possible Detente from Putin/Trump Summit Talks?

Hold the cheers! What came out of Nixon and Reagan era talks with their Russian counterparts is beyond the reach of any US president today at a time when bilateral relations are more dismal than ever - when irreconcilable differences separate the agendas of both countries.
Dark forces in Washington want things this way. So do Russophobic media scoundrels.
The Wall Street Journal likely has it right, saying “the goal (of summit talks) is to open a conversation rather than accomplish a reset of US-Russian relations,” citing administration “top aides.”
Medvedev/Obama reset was short-lived, more illusion than reality all along. No improved bilateral relationship happened.
Putin earlier asked: “Do we place our troops at US borders? Who is placing NATO troops, military infrastructure closer to us?”
“Does anyone listen to us, talk to us about it? No, nothing. There is always the same response. It’s not your business.”
US missile defense for offense threatens Russia, Putin adding: “They have been deploying strategic missile defense elements not only on Alaska, but also in Europe, in Poland and Romania, right at our borders.”
Under these conditions with no prospect for change, how can detente be possible?
Putin seeks what all leaders expect - relations with America based on mutual respect for each others interests, equal give and take, strict observance of international law, world peace, not endless wars, and multi-world polarity, not dominance of one country over others.
Washington blames other nations for its own wrongdoing. No “Russian aggression” exists, no Kremlin interference in America’s political process, no Putin territorial ambitions the way Washington operates, no Russian imperial rampaging for dominance over all other nations.
The NYT is a propaganda machine on all geopolitical issues mattering most, notably anything about Russia.
Hard truths on the country and Vladimir Putin personally never interfere with its disinformation, Big Lies and fake news - a Times specialty.
Russophobic propaganda is a near-daily affair on its pages, notably in the run-up to Monday’s Putin/Trump summit talks
Ahead of both leaders meeting for their first ever formal talks, the Times demeaned, debased and denounced them.
The self-styled newspaper of record disgracefully said “America is being betrayed by its own president. America is under attack (by Russia) and its president absolutely refuses to defend it.”
“…Trump is a traitor and may well be treasonous.” Shocking rubbish no responsible editors would touch. The Times featured it.
Its lead front-page Monday story claimed “just sitting down with Trump, Putin comes out ahead,” disgracefully adding:
“…Putin has long sought to fracture the West and upend the established geopolitical order” - a bald-faced lie! Just the opposite is true!
The rest of the article was just as appalling - full-throttle Russia/Putin bashing, cold hard truths ignored.
The Times and other media scoundrels deplore the idea of anything positive-sounding coming out of summit talks.
Whatever both leaders say after they conclude, the Times and rest of the US media establishment will jump all over their remarks disgracefully.
Scoundrel media war on Russia and Vladimir Putin rages - Big Lies triumphing over hard truths.
The Times especially remains unforgiving for Trump’s electoral triumph, defeating media darling Hillary.
The self-styled newspaper of record served as her press agent throughout the 2016 campaign - ignoring her high crimes, vilifying Trump for the wrong reasons, bashing him for wanting improved relations with Putin.
Horrors is anything positive-sounding comes out of summit talks - unacceptable to the Times and other media scoundrels!
